Content is so cheap...all these pay sites using non-exclusive content should have at least 100,000 pics in their members areas. Instead it seems like most of them have about 1,000.

I can see having 1,000 pics and a bunch of videos if your content was exclusive and the videos were NICE...something like Sweet Cuties site...but these sites trying to do the same thing with overused non-exclusive content are idiots.

I think it all comes down to how much porn do you think the surfer needs to get off. He hits the TGP or what ever and then buys a membership and he is off in an hour tops I think. Try and think how much time someone sits there looking at porn to get off. Not much I would think.

We aren't just another cookie cutter gateway site to content links like so many others.

Magnatique, your member area needs a little more personality. Not design, or any huge changes... I just mean a voice. Add some text to things like the movie scene pages and so forth, draw people in and they will be more satisfied.

Building traffic is fairly easy, building avs's & gallerys is a simple process...but for fucks sake, if you're going to start a paysite do something original. Captivate your viewers with content that leaps off the screen. Make your members area interactive, even hire a guy to do weekly updates.

Ask your members what they want, & actually come through on some of the requests. I can tell you right now a happy porn surfer with a membership to a site that updates weekly with shit he loves...will stay for fucking MONTHS not days.

So to all you newbies looking to start a paysite, do it because you like it...because if you don't...it will show & barring some unexplained phenomenon you will lose abunch of money.

Believe me, things like this are done more often than you may think. It's obvious to me that many sites give password sites a password combo to use as a way of generating interest. And they can always pull the plug later. If you've got content people really want to see, getting them hooked and then closing down the password might entice them to sign up.

Actually, UltraWired and Blacks on Blondes give away tons of content instead of giving out passwords. Either way, it's the same idea. Get them interested enough to feel they need to sign up. It's a marketing ploy.

As to the ratings, we try to do the reviews more in the body rather than just in the numbers. The numbers are good to go by, but really the reviews are meant to explain to the surfers what we found, what we liked/didn't, whether we think it's worth it, etc. I think this can be done 100x better in the wording of the review.

Also a foot fetish site isn't the same as a balloon fetish site, which isn't the same as a DP gangbang site. The criteria we base the points on is as general as possible so that it functions, but you're right it's a bit silly pitting Bang Bus against Bra Babes! It's not perfect but it works pretty well.
