What does this mean exactly? (IE) - GoFuckYourself.com

I get message above here quite often displayed in Internet Explorer. Before I installed IE version 6 I always only got displayed the ÿ on a totally blank page. Now I get more reported, but why the # do I get it and what does it mean? Have you seen it too? (the page itself is loading fine)

I'd be surprised if IE6 would be causing this problem. It seems the HTTP headers are getting passed into the browser, probably because that y character is getting there first, so the browser naturally assumes there ARE no headers.

Tell me more about your setup. Are you behind a proxy? If so, is it a transparent proxy? Can you switch it off? Are you behind a firewall/NAT? Need more info on your conneciton.

No I don't use a proxy. Have a fast DSL network here, and on every computer installed the firewall ZoneAlarm. As far as I can remember I only get these messages in password protected areas.

Disable ZoneAlarm. Are you directly connected to the internet or do you connect via a computer on your LAN? If so, check to see the host computer on the LAN is having the same problems.

Connected thru a Hub and then a Router. I don't think I want to disable ZoneAlarm

Nobody's gonna attack you in the 30 seconds you disable it to test, heh. Check your router too possibly.

but it doesn't occur all the time, it's a bit hard to test therefore

Something along the way is adding that character to the start of that packet. It's char 255 too, which I'm sure means something =P
