Think sexy nerdy, not necessarily playing a computer (pinball, D&D, etc). They tend to be a little goth occasionally but nothing that isn't very far from a mainstream nerd. I'm sure you can use The Google for ideas.

These contest are for people who are not busy with anything at the moment.
Doing free work is not what designers want to do and this is free work.

I had nothing at all to do yesterday, so I entered.

I have never done banners or logos or designs for anyone.
So for me it's like "hmmmm...let me try that". For regular designers it's working for free.

Also there were a lot of contest in the past where no winner was ever chosen.
That bummed out a few good designers.
