Really do wear ear plugs or something loud and I wouldnt look. You really do not want to have to hear it when they start using power tools. Hell nobody should even witness that. It just never seems right when a surgeon pulls out a fucking tool you normally see in the hands of a carpenter and goes at ya.

That means you feel everything thats going on with the bone or?!

I have always BEGGED to be completely knocked out during each and every one of my many surgeries. Personally I'd pay them 10X as much not to hear/see/feel pressure/etc. :(

lol, you don't feel the pain with your bones


btw you will NOT feel pain but you'll be able to feel pressure etc that's a bit freaky but then again nothing major, you'll be just fine

Done it 3-4 times. No big deal other than the squishy sounds and the medical smell. Should go just fine.

Every surgery I've had I've been knocked completely out. But something way down there on the foot I think I could handle being awake for as long as they're not amputating it. Fixing it, yeah I think going the route you're going with the mp3 player would be just fine. Needles are nothing, they're mosquito bites and are over in a few seconds each.

Screw that, I had my left hand done for carpal tunnel and they asked me if I wanted a local I was like O HHelll no knock my ass out, went out like a light it was the best sleep I have ever had! This was in June, now Dec 18th I had the same thing done again but this time in my right hand and again HELL no knock me out, but this time the med's they gave me burned like a bitch going in and I was like hey this shit hurts and before anything else could come out I was gone! LOL

It isn't a big deal, I've had a few operations while awake, and major ones. They give you something to relax, generally you are so relaxed you don't notice a thing.

If you can have it done that way I would definitely recommend it. I had a local for wrist surgery many years ago. I requested it. Much better than a general and you get out of recovery much faster. They put a sheet in front of me so I could not see anything and it was a little boring. I remember thinking that I wish I had a portable CD player and headphones to listen to music while the doctor and nurses worked. A local is also safer as well as cheaper than a general.

Go for a local, it's not that bad.

But for heavens sake, don't even think on epidural, that sucks... Gave me a shitty pain in the back for about 4 years.

I just had surgery on my ankle 3 moths ago.

I was knocked out and woke up just fine :thumbsup with 6 screws and a plate
