would be great to attend, but since i am not a program owner its sorta a waste

I attended as an affiliate back in 2005, I'd say the meet-and-greet with the people who send me my checks every month made it worth the trip. And some of the programming was very useful also. Enough to fully justify the cost? Meh, arguable I suppose. But a long long way from being a waste.

It was also a real good tax deductible time.

My travel schedule every year since has made it impossible to go back. This year, my schedule allows, but I hear the rooms sell out in less than a day, so unless I'm very lucky with timing, it won't be possible. (I refuse to stay off-premises; that turns a good conference into schlepping hell.)

Aw man, I'm going to miss the craft fair right outside our doors. Almost my entire family has birthdays in the summer, so I always pick up cool gifts there.

BUT I am totally looking forward to the show! Phoenix is my FAVE show hands down!

There is a hotel two blocks away that I usually end up at for that very reason. It's actually kinda nice to be off-site in a way, and the hotel isn't totally bad. I wouldn't let that stop you from going, is what I'm trying to say. :)

That sounds awesome!

I appreciate the suggestion, and I guess I shouldn't rule it totally out, but generally I find that I run and run at these sort of affairs until I'm exhausted and ready to crash. At that point, the elevator ride is too long; a two-block schlep even more so.

At some point you gotta wonder why the event isn't held somewhere that's got the capacity to block out sufficient rooms.

Gonna be another fantastic show :thumbsup

True, the show has outgrown the hotel. BUT the hotel is so perfect for the show from the snack shacks to the separated pool area and the very walkable and friendly neighbourhood. If it changed hotels, it wouldn't be the same.

I know what you mean about being so tired at the end of the night. I've walked back to my hotel barefoot a couple times because my feet were so damn sore :)
