Setting the Price for a Paysite ?

Just wondering what you think about setting prices on Paysites ?

24.95 or 29.95 If the person about to pull out there CC going to change there mind over 5.00

Now I see the difference between say 24.95 and 34.95

But if you are sold at 24.95 then you are sold at 29.95 as well

What do you think ?

I like $24.95 and no trials. If you must have trials, then make them trials on exit.

24.95 - 29.95, I dont think there is much of a difference there.

I know prices like 27.35 etc have been somewhat successfull.
This for the simple reason it may look like it is something else on a credit card receipt. Because lets face it, most recurrings are from idiots that forget/dont know how to cancel.

I read an article, I think in clickz or is it ebusiness weekly [anyway, one of those e marketing newsletters] that psychological studies show consumers are more susceptible to impulse buying if the price involves 9 in between price points. Using this logic 19.95 or 19.99 is better than 17.99 or 21.99 so applying this study to your facts, 29.95 is better than BOTH 34.95 and 24.95

Hope this helps.

Well, when I did mainstream marketing, one of the things we learned and followed religiously is the standard industry price points.

Anything under $20 is fair game. $17.95, $19.95, all the same. Above this, the next price point is
$29.99
$49.99
$79.99
$99.99
$119.99
$149.99
$179.99
$199.99

BUT look at the evolution of the market and retail trends. Walmart is slowly getting people used to weird prices, because it gives the illusion that they're fighting to drop the price for you. You think that because it's $6,73, they fought the distributor enough and cut their own price so badly, they won't even round up to $6.99. That's the psychological idea behind it.

As for pricing sites, I like $24.95 with no trial, and if you're going to give a trial, then give a $29.95 price.

It also goes with the content and the "theme" of the site. When the market is killer (cookie cutter pornstars) then you need to drop your price.

Also, are you going heavy with an affiliate program? If you're expecting a lot of affiliates to work well for you, then you can drop the price to $24.95 and help them sell more, but if you have fewer guys, then you might want the extra $5

Just my on the subject
