Is Left4Dead really THAT good? - GoFuckYourself.com

same here. I heard that if your looking for a multi player game this is it, but im into one player games so Mirrors edge was reccomended.

i have it and not really into online gameplay, so i played it a couple of times offline with my bro split screen. it's pretty good. nice way of setting up individual stages as kind of like different movies, different scenarios. but it hasnt really made me want to pick it up again by myself. I have a couple of other games laying around, gears of war2, prince of persia, fallout3, and dead space. looking forward to see what fallout 3 is about. it got tons of awards. but if you want a game like left4dead i would rather get gears of war 2, that game is great. nice long story, fun alone or with a friend.
right now i'm playing the force unleashed (fun whipping storm troopers around), + smackdownvsraw 2009, so i dont like jumping between too many games with story lines.

other good single player games are Call of Duty 4 (i know a bit old) but Call of duty world at war. i guess depends what you like. it's tough to slip in more than 1 hour of gameplay at a time but it should be fun. i passed GTA4 but still have some stuff to do, that game has tons of repeat value. best game ever

Unless you plan on buying it for multiplayer, then don't buy it.

There's not really a true single player game with story. You just run through a short series of levels to get to the safe house at the end of each one. It's not like Half Life or Gears of War, if you are expecting something like that. It is closer to something like Counterstrike.

It is GREAT fun in multiplayer though. I really like that you can have a guest play with you via split screen at the same time you are killing other people on xbox live. Never seen any other game where you could do that yet.

The versus mode is pretty cool, one round you play as the humans, the next you play as the undead trying to prevent the humans from reaching the safe room.

I played the demo when it was available and had a lot of fun in multi player with a few friends. It's one of those games that I think would likely have a short life though, but it was pretty fun playing with people I knew.

The demo didn't have the "vs" mode, but that sounded like it might be fun. Single player would likely get old pretty fast from what I saw of the demo.

I liked it. My son and i played it for an hour or two for 4-5 days and completed it. I enjoyed it. It would be better if you can rent it.

Did they take the demo down for Xbox. I remember seeing it and now it's gone.

But I get the vibe it would get old real quick but be really fun while it lasts. I might wait for a price drop and pick it up unless I get desperate for a new game. As it sits I have to finish GOW2, GTA4.

I wish they would just come out with a huge map pack for COD4. I loved that game on-line but the maps are getting stale. I'd pay $60 just for new maps.

Ok, so I decided to skip Left4Dead...

I headed over to my favorite free mod site, moddb.com and picked up some great games that I've been missing out on:

Zombie Panic Source!
Hidden: Source
Empires

Anybody play any of these titles? I'm really digging Zombie Panic Source, I guess it's a total conversion from the first version just on the source engine now. The gameplay is a lot of fun and unlike Left4Dead you can have 20-30 people playing at a time. Woot!

Like every first person shooter, you'll enjoy it more on PC than on XBox. It's cheap as hell if you buy it through the Steam client rather than picking it up in a shop. (Here in Australia it's literally half the cost of retail)

And yeah, it really is that good. The versus mode where you can be either the survivors or the infected is awesome. Infected especially. Adds a whole different level to the game. Hunters, smokers and boomers working together. It's beautiful.

I haven't played it yet, but it sounds like a complete copy of Zombie Panic, which was released years ago for Half Life then re-released for Source. In fact, they are called the Infected and the Survivors as well. LOL

But if I get bored of Zombie Panic and I'm still looking to fuck some zombies up, I'll pick this game up. Thanks for the honest review

Mirrors Edge is kind of cool. But it's very short. And I didn't like the fact that you had to finish the game before you could play it without "runner view" or whatever it's called. At the very least, it's opened the door for more parkour/free running inspired games. And that can only be a good thing.
