    GFY Rule #3 - The Rule That Rarely Gets Enforced :::

    GFY rule #3 states in part....."Anything goes, except do not post people's personal information, or attack people personally, stick to the issues."

    Now here's the part that is not clear to me...."attacking people personally." I see people attacking other people every single day on GFY. Why put something like this in the rules if no one has any intention of enforcing it? To me this is a complete joke. If it were not for people attacking other people, this board would be completely dead right now. Those attacks are what GFY built it's reputation on. It's the drama created from those attacks that keep eyeballs coming back here.

Back when I first came here, this place was not a big surfer hangout, but I would have to say with the exception of a few, all the big guys are over on another board now days.

                                                                          Various reasons apply as to why, but for the most part you can still utilize GFY for work, just like the old days. You just have to be careful. I posted about some shit I needed done about 2 weeks ago and got 20 e-mails telling me to send the content that I would need worked on and then I would be given a price on the work...... The vast majority of these e-mail came from an @yahoo adress..... mother fucker please.

In the past, posting of someones real name and address and an attack against them personally (like saying they are a drug addict) have resulted in banning. Besides most of these rules are put into place so the moderators have the right to kick you off, it doesn't say anywhere that they have to...

Unfortunately one glaring example of how this was lost over the years is the no forum linking rule. This was added after someone was spamming their forum and recruiting people from GFY.

You almost can't even mention their names anymore. Someone breaking your copyrights by posting siterips of your content on a forum? Sorry, you can't mention the forum or post a link to it.                                                                                               I would agree if it's an industry forum, but not in the example given of the forum filled with content theft, siterips, etc.. Another interesting note is that XBIZ is always allowed to post links to articles, and they have a very well known prominent adult industry forum. Is it because they have articles too even though the Boards link is one-click away? If one of the other industry forums were to throw a blog up on the front page instead would they then be able to link to their sites and we could actually mention their site names? The intent is lost, that's what I think.

It's one thing to post links to another board in an effort to promote the board but it's something different to post links to boards that may be of use to webmasters here. You can go on any of the other webmaster boards and post a link to GFY and nobody gives a shit. You come here and post a link to another board and *BAM*...yer gone. Fugg'n ridiculous if you ask me

Your point is valid and has been for a while. This rule was rewritten a while ago. The new rules actually are going live tomorrow. The intent of this rule was to protect peoples personal lives and their families. The new rules are more clear and make it abundantly more apparent as to what we define as a personal attack.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Here is how they will be written:

                                                                                                                                                                                  3) Anything goes, except do not post people's personal information, or attack peoples personal lives or families, stick to the issues and the bullshit. ANY WHOIS information is considered public information, it is not considered personal information. So don't bitch at us if you put your home address as your personal info on WHOIS.

                                                                                                                                                                                  4) Don't post links to illegal sites. Calling someone a Pedo, Refferring to them as a Pedo, Stating they promote Pedo, posting of Pedo links, and Death Threats are now grounds for immediate banning.
