if true so sorry to hear. I think many people jump the gun when questioning what others do when a loved one dies. I dont think it's absurd at all that you came to gfy, asking for donations however noble is silly though . No hospital hold a body unil all bills are paid, it doesnt happen, they may have said that or someone may have told you that , it is not true. Go get a lawyer, it will be much cheaper. A few hundred bucks , problem solved.

This thread is disturbing on so many levels :helpme
I watched "Sicko" just last night and you wouldn't believe the shit that was displayed regarding our health care system. I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. I agree with getting a lawyer and quickly. My deepest sympaties with you either way. If you wanted donations towards her health care costs, you might want to post the hospital so people could donate straight to that, then they wouldn't be so leery. People have asked for help before who then disappeared off the face of the earth. You gotta understand that. Asking for help is a very very very hard thing to do and I give you kudos for trying, regardless. I have always had a hard time doing that and now I wish I had when I really was down and needed help badly. My boy still doesn't have an URN. He's in a cardboard box. I know how bad expenses are especially when you're grieving. Things are all foggy and you can't think or plan clearly. My funeral costed me thousands and there was no way around it or any payment options. Within 12 hours of death, you're sitting at the funeral home picking out caskets and stationary and shit. I hope you can pay for all that too. And btw, it's not weird to be on gfy 7 hours after a loss. No one can judge what's normal reaction when you're in shock. :2 cents: Anyway, I won't give you a "fuck you" like some. Just understand where they're coming from and I hope you can get a lawyer to help you get a payment plan in place for the hospital costs AND funeral stuff. |

Sorry for your loss :(
For those bashing the US health system, he said he's in Asia. I suspect laws regarding this are different than in the US too and even if it was in the US, I doubt a lawyer would touch it w/o a hefty retainer fee since there's no "payout" except getting the body. |
sorry on the loss, but isn't that what life insurance is for? state will bury her even if she doesn't have any but you'll eat the bills. better start cracking on getting the $10k. it won't be from here.
just another post pimping for $$ in my opinion. |

might wanna take some suggestions from those articles, they mentioned hospitals have certain waivers they can grant if you are broke , even in third world countries. Another option if you are an american is to ask the embassy to foot the bill, can't hurt to ask, and prob alot easier than getting help from gfy , no offense to you or gfy :winkwink:
|
p.s. if you are an american , tell the embassy your religion makes it very clear you need to bury the body in a certain time frame, maybe that will help..

What does this thread have to do with our healthcare system? He is not in the US and the US does not hold bodies until you pay a hospital bill. So many hospitals here get stiffed it is not even funny. :2 cents: |

Greetings all. I said that i will no longer post on this board due to massive troll infection, but when i checked my paypal account, some of you guys helped me(will ask for permission if they want their name disclosed). So i owe it to them to give additional details regarding what has happened with my mom.
To answer your questions: 1. JUST TO CLEAR THINGS: My mom's body hasn't been held by the hospital, they released her when she died. When i started this thread, she is already at the funeral parlor being dressed. 2. What's being hold by the hospital is her death certificate, this certificate is needed when filling burial or cremation permit on city government. 3. What am i doing online 7 hours after my mom died? - I'm in Asia, we're using +8GMT. My mom died at 8:52AM December 31, 2008 (It might be Dec. 30, 2008 at your location) The truth is my mom's dead for more than 12 hours when i posted this thread. Her body was still at the funeral parlor being prepared for the wake. What was i doing online? ANSWER: I think e-mails to inform relatives that my mom just passed away is MORE EFFICIENT and FASTER than to use postal snail mail. In addition, her body is still being prepared by the funeral parlor and its called "embalming" so i went home, goes online for a while to inform friends and relatives then we prepared things, foods, to bring to funeral chapel so we can give some snacks to the visitors who are paying their last respect with my mom. After preparing the snacks, i get some rest about 2 hours, then me and my family went to the funeral chapel to be with my mom. 4. Where's my mom now? ANSWER: She's still at the funeral chapel lying in rest (its a tradition here at my country to pay respect for the dead for 2-7 days before the burial. 5. Have i settled the bills to get my mom's death certificate so her burial can be processed? ANSWER: We're getting there but not yet. I never thought my mom has many friends, as a matter of fact i lost my voice explaining the details of her passing away to all visitors. At the first 3 days of her funeral wake, we are receiving 100-200 visitors. Friends, relatives etc. and im so touched that they were there to accompany our family in the time of deepest sorrow. 6. When do we plan to bury her? ANSWER: Maybe on January 7th, we're still discussing if we are going to bury her or cremate her. Will give you details after. 7. What am i doing online now rather than to be at the funeral chapel to be with my mom and assist visitor? ANSWER: my Dad is there, and im on my way to the hospital to BEG (yes, BEG.. i wil BEG them to release her death certificate with the small amount that i have and ill sign anything that they would want me to sign just to get the certificate so my mom's burial can be arranged) To spunky: thank you for your reply. saying that heaven has a new angel with my mom's passing is really a heart warming thing. To those who sent their condolences, THANK YOU. I'll be off now. Thank you all. |

My mom was rushed at E.R. a day after Christmas (DEC 26) and she expired a day before new year (Dec. 31) she was 58 yrs old. The 59 years old on the bill (its a bill not a receipt voodoo) might be a typo error or they just advanced it since my mom will turn 59 this coming Jan. 9 |

But im very glad to inform you all that with help of relatives and friends and some GFYers, i only need $1,515.00 to go :) |
