While speaking to people in the industry who don't have any, or much of any, clue about the engines and the SEO game, I've come up with several easy to understand analogies that kind of give some insight, or an easier to comprehend template for the basics. I figured I'd share them with you cause they are first off kinda funny, and secondly they really make sense.
So since its long enough as it is, I'll cut to the chase and get to it. This one is about linking, and about authoritative links or websites and how important they can be.
Now this gives a great "introductory" understanding of how google watches and values links and gives some sites authoritative (more important) link power. A solid link on a authoritative website will slam up your rankings, and GIVE VALUE to your weaker links, like it validates and confirms what the lesser known, lesser weighted links are telling it also.
If it all makes sense to you its pretty simple to start building a strategy to achieve some longterm rankings that can send traffic for years.
All you need to do is get into that party, and bring a couple hundred of your own friends (links) with you.

The google runs into a site it knows, oh yeah, they've partied with him a few times over the years, they go way back, and he tells google that 'www.bigtits.com' has all the big titties too. And woah, haha, look theres so-and-so.com also talkin about 'www.bigtits.com' they also go way back, years back, no question where to find the big titties now.
