Just got a call from my grandma in regards to the internet...

She owns a ton of rental properties and has been putting ads in the paper for centuries now (literally centuries, she's that old ) whenever she needs to rent them out.

Anyhow, she just called me on my cell phone with this to say: "Jay, I am tired of paying $60 for these ads in the newspaper, can you find out how much it costs to put them up on the online-internet?"

Me: "Sure grandma, I can do it for free and it will probably get more exposure than the newspaper anyways."

That was just a short bit of the conversation, I didn't really try to explain how it would get more exposure and be for free, that would have taken a while as she has never used a computer... I thought it was pretty funny, she was thrilled. Gotta love your grandparents .

That is awesome LOL. She sounds pretty smart and aware if she's as old as you are making it sound (100 or close to it? lol) Maybe you will hook her up with some renters. However, beware with craigslist. Do credit checks or at least a background eheck. I've heard some horror stories...

What you really should be doing is creating a website for her company, list the properties with details, and create a way to generate a waiting list. People can log onto the site and see if there are any units available and they can also add their name to the waiting list. The next time a unit comes available you will already have a list of people to contact.

Yeah, my Dad is getting up there as well (in age), and when I was home, I was running back and forth between him and my mom fixing the most random crap...

When you do it everyday you don't realize how clueless some people are (dos centavos)

I helped out my brother once..

went to his gf birthday party and he was giving me kids shit for bringing the toys upstairs, I told him to relax and I left.. upon leaving he throws the toy at me when im getting into the car and it hits my car.. I was extremly close to going back in the house and making a mess with him.. but my girlfriend stopped me and we went home.. after cooling off I posted some ads all over .. kinda like this.

Giving away free children toys, closed daycare and moving away need to get rid of toys asap. and posted lots of toy pics and with his phone number.

he had to change his phone number lol.

Trust me, I help her out all the time with cleaning apartments when people move out, general handyman housework etc etc. We've seen it all and no matter what kind of background checks you do, there are always crazies.

That's a good idea and I have thought about doing that for her but it is a lot of work, although one day I may eventually get around to it.

That's a nice thing to do for your Grandma.

My Grandfather who is 86 is addicted to the Internet. He has this keyboard with giant bright yellow keys and has become quite apt at surfing the net. He's taken on quite a few family history projects and uses the Internet a lot.
