i agree that this thread COULD have brought up interesting discussions about how ppl made money in this biz, or who was successful/failed for what reasons (i.e. ron levi's wife fiasco)
but instead its just a chance 4 a few ppl to namedrop and pretend they're players typical :321GFY |

I know the Score Group currently have 20 people working in their Internet division and they do no advertising, do not pay for "Traffic" the content coomes from what they buy for the magazines.
BookPress (17 and Photorama) are also very big. Hustler are coming up all the time. Again not buying content, just usine what they have. Dont know about individual webmasters. |
Some of the biggest hitters are here in Australia. I would suggest someone like Greg L, that is a calculated guess.:thumbsup

I'm not saying ARS isn't in the top ten right now as far as traffic goes. but I can name 10 people who are currently wealthier then them from this industry and they are still around making good money. And they will always have more because they started earlier when the profit was high now the margins are alot tighter. who has the best conversions right now currently? |

I think the question was "who do you think is making the most $$$ now" |
as soon as they get me richer... I'll give a dam :winkwink:

So who does everyone think is the #1 Richest "Bill Gates" of our industry currently? #1 richest bill gates of our industry currently like I said before if someone made 188 mil 2 years ago and someone made 50 mil this year who is the richest currently? |
One thing for sure, the really, really big players in the porn business do not post to this board.

but I will say alot of people are making great money. how much does one need to make a year to be big? No one knows who nets the most and no will ever know Having the most sales or the most traffic doesn't mean your making the most. I can gross 10 mil a month and only net 500k or I can gross 5 mil a month and net 2.5 mil So how do we decide who is the biggest do we care? |
so who do you guysand gals think is the best converting now?
and who makes you the most? |
Interesting thread results. Indeed it seems you can be big, and still kind of keep your true degree of wealth and success in the shadows. It doesn't seem there is a solid consensus as to the King of the Hill yet. I agree on audiotext guys, a lot of money tucked away from that sector, but then again they've been at it for some 18 years now compared to the Net's 7 years. Al from WebPower is in the top 5 for sure, he's had some moster sized programs since the early days, as are a number of other Florida based webmasters who are probably in the top 10 list.
Someone mentioned how to make big bucks. I'd say the surest way is to come up with a new marketing gimmick, and try to get at least a 3 to 6 month run with it before everyone copies you all over the place. Like the BangBus concept. That was brilliant. The affiliate program of course is a winner if you can build a big one, though a lot of the programs that claim 50,000 or more webmasters you have to wonder how many are really active. Very few every deactivate you from their database since no one wants to admit their webmasters are leaving for another guy's affiliate program. GirlsGoneWild has done huge bucks with a dynamic crossover program into DVD and Video sales. Anyone seen their infomercial late at night? Its a beauty. Brokering traffic is good dollars if you have established relationships. Content production has made some webmasters serious dollars if you can keep pumping out consistently good content. And whoever comes up with the next great billing solution will make a fortune without a doubt. At the last show saw a demo of streams to cell phones and think that is a market ripe for picking with lots of opportunities, though the base of full color high res cell phones is just starting to take off. |

A lot of the big players in this industry post on the boards. There are some big ones that regularly speak their mind on GFY.
And if they don't post, I assure you either they or an assistant is lurking to keep tabs on the webmaster vibe and gossip. |

The richest webmasters will stay low key if they are smart.
I think it would suprise everyone how many unknown webmasters do many ten's of millions a year. |

Who fucking cares who the richest Webmaster of all is?
Does that make him the most honest, the nicest, the funniest or the most intelligent? Once again, the superficial triumphs over substance. |
Quote:
But a good affiliate program is required if you want to do 1000-2000 signups a day. The highest number of daily signups I have heard without webmaster program is 400 signups a day. (I am sure there are ones that generate more per day though). |
Quote:
So the question will remain unanswered. Why is it important to know who the richest webmaster is anyway? Its not like he is going to send anyone some free traffic or money ;-) |
That leads to another interesting question. What is the total universe of signups per day for the industry as a whole? I'm thinking 150,000 to 200,000.

like i said i hate 2 say it but it feels like all wm boards are devoid of compelling discussions about the business. there are always the 'i fucked her' type posters who ruin stuff for intelligent folks. ah well! send me some whores from AUS joe. :winkwink: |
Yeh agreed its not important, but a lot of people sure were curious and interested who was being nominated and talked about.
