Google, Toolbars, & ISPs going a bit too far?

Inching their way into taking over our computers 1 day at a time

open up your MSIE browser with your Google Toolbar installed and click on a tab and select New Tab

My IPS Earthink controls any 404 error to their search page, my toolbar now thinks it can control my new tab window, whats next, when I open GFY, google will bring down all my subscribed threads with an advertisment???

Fucking unreal world we are in

I get editable thumbnails of recently visited sites with no advertising. Well it does say Google Toolbar in the right hand corner but it is not clickable.

Try using opendns, that may get around the 404 swipe by earthlink. opendns also do their own "not found" swiping but you can disable that once you register.

If earthlink are running some sort of transparent proxy or inline content filter then you're probably out of luck.

Eearthlink DNS is the problem, they have OPT OUT dns servers posted that you can switch to, but they know the tricks, they now disconnecting everyone overnight, because the disconnect will convert the routers DNS settings back to what they force upon the DSL connection.. so even when you save IP's to router, and write to flash settings it dont seem to affect DNS servers which always get set back their spam IP's.. I dont mind so much Earthlink having a page on domains that don't exist where you type it in wrong that helps you try to get to the right one.. but they are blatently redirecting 404 errors errors now where they site does not have 404 control, and oter crap like that

Also te Earthlink DNS with the advertising crap seems to Fail to respond correctly causing more than not advertising page load.. i never have a problem on the opt out ip's

My ISP began doing that since I resigned back with them... definitely new and annoying as hell. Thank god they allowed to opt out.
