ok i knew about the nurse chapel but what are you talking about with the number one reference
i thought "number one" was st:NG thing only.
and the closest thing to a number 1 in the original series was spock.
PS. not really a star trek fan so could be completely wrong about these points, i saw her after her appearance on B5.

Actually in the pilot (parts of which are featured in the 2 part episode "The Menagerie"), Majel is Captain Pikes "number one" and he refers to her as such.
