Credit Card VS Phone/txt Payment system

    hey,

does anyone here use a mobile phone/phone payment processor like daopay and know how that compares with join ratios to a credit card payment system like ccbill?

if you have experiance in the above do you think people sign up more using phone/txt or with credit card?

    thanks

Phone and SMS billing is not really a replacement to credit card transactions, but it can add value in a way that you can bill people by phone or SMS that do not own a credit card, you can bill people in countries that is on a general "decline" list by the credit card processor or you can simply set it up to bill your credit card declines.

I would definitly say go with both. There are advantages of taking denied card transactions but also those surfers that are afraid using their credit cards online, and that is still many. Your phone is not connected to your bank account and in peoples mind not as big risk as CCs.

Spudman ,you will find a few companies that offer both but ususally to get the best deal and features its better to use a dedicated telcoms provider for your phone/sms billing and a c/c card processor for your credit cards.

Prime example are the 2 posters in the thread Global-Acces (telecom) and Zombaio (credit cards).

SMS billing is expensive as fuck, compared to CC billing. Expect 40-60% rates for processing.

While it's true that SMS billing is much more expensive than credit cards, I think you are missing the point. Members who have a credit card and are happy to use it on the internet will use that to sign up, this is still going to be your No1 revenue stream. Members who either don't have a card or don't want to pass their personal information will be more than happy to pay a premium for access. Therefore you can collect exactly the same for an SMS client as you do for a credit card client, the end user pays the increase in fees. This ensures that the most attractive option is card to your users, and only users who are not currently signing up with your site start using the alternatives provided. For example you want to receive $19 your Card option is $20 your SMS option is $30. You receive the same from both methods, but you start converting new and different customers! This means you start collecting 15-20% more than by just having a card option, particular for guys with a large amount of traffic coming from places like Germany where less than 1 in 3 of the population own a credit card.

Ok the amount varies by country, but it's not for processing, if not me and Due would be sitting on yachts in the caribbean!

Sadly mobile operators take the lions share of any transaction, it's something we would all like to reduce and is improving slowly.

It IS for processing, that's what the operators do, they process the transactions. You really only resell their services.
