I read a good article, I wish I could find it, about how kids these days are learning and maturing in this high speed technological internet age and the damages it is causing, not only in social situations but decision making as well. |
Everyone thinks this is about security. Most people aren't going to care about whats going on until it really affects them. After the deflation and then the hyper-inflation occurs within the next year most people will question what the hell is going on. I guess by then everyone will be wearing "tinfoil hats." The real wake up call for the webmasters hanging around boards like these will be when they roll out internet 2. If you're not familiar with it you should start doing your research now because it's already in the works. I've talked to the guys running the cabling here in town. They know of it as "the grid." Simply put it will be a corporate controlled very highspeed lowcost if not free internet which most of the large ISPs and IT co's in the US are behind. You will have to get approval from the likes of the FCC to have a website.

A lot of things have to happen before a riot breaks out, and US authorities are likely to stop the altercation very early. This is a country where it's technically illegal to protest. You must first get permission though a permit from authorities (who use the approved number of protesters to staff the right amount of riot police next to them). Unauthorized groups get broken up (or arrested) long before they grow to riot level nowadays. |

I've believed for years that they would eventually find some way to obtain internet content oversight like they have for TV and radio. Now think about it. If the internet is going to be available on the old TV airwaves (something they have content power over), then it makes sense that they will go after website content deemed unfit by them. |
The idea for these troops is to have them as stay at home soldiers that can be called into action any place in the nation within a matter of hours. Hate to say this, but its nothing new.

According the the article,
"Domestic emergency deployment may be "just the first example of a series of expansions in presidential and military authority," or even an increase in domestic surveillance, said Anna Christensen of the ACLU's National Security Project. And Cato Vice President Gene Healy warned of "a creeping militarization" of homeland security." As I understand the vocabulary, domestic emergency deployment means on the streets of the USA. I know those are "big" words for some.....:winkwink: |

I'm sure there will still be porn on internet2 but it would be more like the playboy channel. I'm also sure there will still be an underground type of internet which is where people who are in the know would hang out. But Internet 2 if it ever does come to fruition will send shock waves throughout the internet as far as those like us who make a living at it. And if you think our governments would do something like that then you might want to think about everything else they've done lately which made no sense. |
