I've believed for years that they would eventually find some way to obtain internet content oversight like they have for TV and radio. Now think about it. If the internet is going to be available on the old TV airwaves (something they have content power over), then it makes sense that they will go after website content deemed unfit by them.

there is another way that can escape that. Ever heard of internet over electric lines?? Yeah its real, and the speeds are so fast most puters can not keep up.

Read about it.

According the the article,

"Domestic emergency deployment may be "just the first example of a series of expansions in presidential and military authority," or even an increase in domestic surveillance, said Anna Christensen of the ACLU's National Security Project. And Cato Vice President Gene Healy warned of "a creeping militarization" of homeland security."

As I understand the vocabulary, domestic emergency deployment means on the streets of the USA.

I know those are "big" words for some.....:winkwink:

Why would anyone want it if all the good stuff is on "internet 1"?

Because free is much cheaper. When it comes down to paying a electric bill or paying for an internet service I think you know which will go first. When a free solution is offered up by your very own cable provider or phone company most people are going to take it. Although it's said that they are going to switch their customers to it either way. I imagine there will be some sort of upgrade/optout option to not be limited to those few sites but the majority will stick with the free option.

Anyone choosing between paying electric bill and paying the internet aren't going to be buying things online anyways. Think about it, if you could only get free porn on "internet1", there will still be massive demand for it. This "internet2" will make the internet as boring as television.

As much as I would like to think porn ruled the internet it doesn't. If a 1000 or so companies can consolidate the advertising spending on mainstream those few companies would stand to boat loads of cash. Also those who do spend online will be buying through those providers. As far as the boring part is concerned that's the whole point. Right now the people who want to can't control, regulate and tax the internet as it is. So the solution to it and to sell the masses on it would be to provide something faster and free and people will willingly give up their freedoms.

I'm sure there will still be porn on internet2 but it would be more like the playboy channel. I'm also sure there will still be an underground type of internet which is where people who are in the know would hang out. But Internet 2 if it ever does come to fruition will send shock waves throughout the internet as far as those like us who make a living at it. And if you think our governments would do something like that then you might want to think about everything else they've done lately which made no sense.
