well i dont have on long johns, but i do have on a fleece hoodie and have head covered at the desk, i turned the central heating on when i got up, but it takes a little bit for it to raise the temp from mid 50s to 76 or so i have it set...
the humidty down here 100% usually (water in the air) just turns to moisture and makes the cold much worse...

Its what you get acclimated to.
In November when the mercury hits zero celcius - it feels damn cold for a short while. As it gets progressively colder, you gradually get acclimated to it......to the point where if it warms back up to zero celcius, it almost feels balmy again.
A co-worker buddy has a rule-of-thumb:
It takes two weeks to get accustomed to the cold - and only 3 days to get unacclimated.
When all else fails - fucking like jackrabbits in the Arizona desert all winter is the secret to survival.
