Power Blackouts could Hit Britian

BLOODY NORA this could get interesting better stock up on candles or buy a generater Peeps without a laptop wont be on the interwebs

Power blackouts could blight Britain unless the Government takes urgent action, the chairman of an influential House of Commons committee has warned.

"The concern that people have about prices will be a picnic compared with significant numbers of power cuts," said Peter Luff, chairman of the business and enterprise committee. "People could find they are watching the telly and suddenly it goes off for an hour or two. That possibility is real. It still can be avoided but we are losing time."

The committee published a report which warned new capacity to store gas and generate electricity must be created if a "disastrous" energy crunch is to be avoided.

The report, Energy Policy: Future Challenges, said difficult economic conditions make it less likely that energy companies will make the necessary investment to safeguard future supplies. It said "it is the Government's job to ensure security of supply" and urged a rethink of its faith in the market.

The committee said there is a "high risk" that energy companies will not be able to raise the money to replace capacity lost when old nuclear and coal-fired power stations are decommissioned.

The rest

If this ever does happen people would be really pissed as we are so used to having power, We dont get black outs very often and when we do its only because of a lightning strikes, floods, or something going wrong in sub stations. They also dont last very long, we have had it to good for to long plus the small businesses would get hit pretty hard

This is a natural result of years of propaganda and sabotage from the lunatic environmental left who actively oppose all forms of power generation whether it be nuclear, hydroelectric, coal fired or otherwise. Just try to get government approval for any type of power plant and see the hysteria that ensues from the green party Marxist useful idiots (the same mindless fucks who recently disrupted a weeks worth of airline traffic at Stansted).

One can only hope that when the blackouts come and the inevitable rioting ensues that the roving mobs hang as many of those responsible as possible from darkened lightposts.

Did they not just order a load of new nuclear power stations to be built? This is the reason why the Government are so set on them. Without them we have no hope of meeting our energy needs.

Nuclear power stations take a long time to build... even the regular coal burning kind take quite some time. Everybody better get on board.
