You have to be kidding me, right? You must be younger than I thought. There is no way he will ever compare.

CDSmith 12-08-2008 09:17 PM

Christ, not another thread where that tool Blazed is yammering on trying to lamely compare that twit from oasis to the venerable likes of John Lennon.

*puke*

28 years ago one of the greatest contributors to rock was gunned down by a no life having psycho. That's what this thread is about, or at least it should be. They should pull the switch on MDC, and someone needs to reload Blazed's crack pipe.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=FAPtTS0TYtU beats any Lennon song. I dont know what the fixation with Lennon is when he wasnt even the best beatle, at songwriting, singing or playing. And its debatable how much Lennon actually wrote.

Well I am sure this will not sit well with you but it has been well documented that he was and is inspired/influenced by The Beatles.

"His musical interests at the time revolved largely around British rock music, most notably The Beatles, whose influence is heavily reflected in his songwriting."

Ask him if The Beatles changed the world for him... And don't get me wrong I like Oasis and their sound because of what and who influenced it.

Obviously and they improved upon it imo.

You aren't going to get anyone siding with you on this... No one can or ever will improve on The Beatles for reasons that I already mentioned earlier.

Noel will never, because it is simply impossible, create anything resembling a breakthrough in music the way Lennon did with The Beatles.

Music began to die in the late 80's early 90's. I have yet to hear anything new since then to even get moderately excited about. Now it is just twitching.

And you probably never will not because there hasnt been any great new music but thats just how the cycle goes. When i visit an old relative they listen to the same music they did when they were young, because the new stuff is just "noise".

The Beatles, Bee Gees, Elvis these were all "noise" to the older generation at that time.

There will be a beatles in everyones generation when your generation dies out the beatles wont be forgotton but as good as.

You are wrong there, I am only 37... There are SOME good bands these days just not alot. Most of it is just corporate cookie cutter crap with very little originality.

Oasis is in my collection, I like them, but I would never compare them to The Beatles. My favorite group, as much as I like them, could never hold up to The Beatles. It is just a fact that you can not grasp that Noel and Oasis will never do for the music industry what John and The Beatles did.

The proof is in the pudding...

Oasis have sold over 50 million records worldwide and have had eight UK number-one singles.

The Beatles have sold more albums in the United States than any other band... sold over one billion records worldwide... the Beatles charted twenty #1 singles in the States – three more than runner-up Elvis Presley - and seventeen in the UK.

I think that about sums it up... :thumbsup

Babaganoosh 12-08-2008 11:45 PM

Oasis???? Really?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mccartney is a greater musician than Lennon ever was. In 5 years time from now Noel Gallagher will of achieved more also. Lennon is overhyped which always tends to happen when people die.

Blazed aptly fits you, yeah Lennon may have used substances,in fact he did. How many times did you see him get busted at airports like Snoop Nuts....Lots of people feel Lennon was the genius behind the Beatles... The combination of Lennon and McCartney as song writers was simply great... The part of you're statement that BLOWS ME THE FUCK AWAY, was you're comment about Noel Gallagher, holly shit you must be Blazed most of you're life, that is just too funny:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

What do you know about John Lennon? You prolly werent even alive to see how he changed the world - even if you stupidly think he didn't... when was the last time anyone even had the balls to try? What are you - like 16 years old?

Listen to his music with a clear mind rather than going ready to hate it from the offset and it beats anything from the beatles. The beatles have not stood the test of time the proof is on youtube, Wonderwall 20m views, Imagine 17m views and it was added a year earlier. If John Lennon never died the way he did the beatles wouldnt of even had the longevity that they have.

So if he changed the world what would be different today? They spent all that time campaigning for world peace that certainly never changed. There are lots of huge stars who changed music but thats as far as it goes. If Lennon was alive today he would be just as annoying a hippy as Bono. Green peace this and that, which is pretty much anti most Americans and 100% anti most people on GFY. Even when he was alive he was hated by most Americans it was only the hippy college kids who loved him.

Okay, those Beatles stats where correlated in 1985 so that is 25 years total. Those stats on Oasis are current figures so that means it has taken them 17 years to sell those measly 50 million records. Lets be fair and say the sell 50 million a year for the remaining 8 years they still won't come close to selling the same number of records. Hell, they wouldn't even if you tripled that number per year over the remaining 8 years.

Even if those Beatles stats ARE current there is no way, just by the proven numbers alone of Oasis for them to catch up.

scottybuzz 12-09-2008 10:45 AM

Blazed, comparing Oasis to the Beatles is like comparing Apples to Oranges. Stop smoking crack for goodness sake.

Peter Romero 12-09-2008 10:50 AM

Blazzed... you are retarded. Ever heard of THE WAR IN VIETNAM??? John Lennon's please for peace sparked a movement and people spoke out against the government and demanded it. I call that changing the world. And that's just scratching the surface. Ask your grandpa why John Lennon changed the world - he was prolly alive in the 60's.

There is no point in trying to reason with someone who thinks Oasis is a better band than the Beatles...

For the record, I believe John Lennon would have loved to try whatever it is that blazed is using.

He didnt stop the war did he? His words accomplished what other than getting a bunch of hippies to follow him, whilst he himself was a fucking hippy?
Anyway whatever you guys win he changed the world, we would probably all be androids right now and the world would be all post apocalyptic and shit.

This is all thats left to be said

baddog 12-09-2008 11:18 AM
