Same thing with airlines, you can almost always find a cheaper price by just going right to their website, they smartened up a long time ago

wow that sucks. i've always seen actual hotel sites selling room rates higher than other websites. this is the first i've seen the actual site selling cheaper than other sites.

They have a price match program... and watch out, I had unauthorized charges on my card after booking through hotels.com once. Some kind of "rewards program" billed at $10-12 per month for a couple of months before I noticed it. I got it taken care of but I've never used them again.

I always check multiple websites and directly with the hotels or airlines to get the best rates. I've been doing research the past few days for an upcoming vegas trip for march madness that I'm thinking of going on.

I dont see the problem its your job to check the market, hotels.com can price at whatever the hell they want, just like porn site A might be 9.95/month and porn site B 49.95/month.

okay... but 40%+ c'mon, the business is sooo automated, they have tech support in india, they just have a couple programmers. The hotels generally do all the work...

pfff thats what I THOUGHT... Oh well, not a big deal im just saying when you find a good deal on one of these travel sites try to go direct. I did and I found I was getting ripped off.
