Damn Honda is pulling out of F1

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/moto...ne/7766092.stm

Looks like F1 is gonna get hit hard this coming year Honda is pulling out or selling their team if they can get it sold in the month. Some of the others teams are having financial issues as well. Hope all this economy shit doesn't kill F1 next year.

Yea I agree with what you are saying in a sense, but F1 has always been about the technology as much as the race it's self. It has driven technology that ends up in regular road cars 5 or 10 years later.

times are tough. But it dosnt make it any easier for F1 teams when F1 keeps changing rules and regulations of the sport on them.

Every time they do, these teams have to spend insane amounts of money and go into development overload to make in it time for racing season.

And to make it worse, the new regulations keep making the cars uglier

You know, this sport is dying. Bernie Ecclestone is a crazy old man and someone should change his diaper.

No presence in North america with Montreal out of the circuit. Now, France and Germany ( one of the 2 circuits for now but the second one will probably get the same treatment in 2 years) are also out of the circuit.

OK, italy is still in europe, but F-1 and Ferrari are married so no surprise there. UK is also on the circuit.

So, with 2 of the biggest car markets out, the visibility for the cost of having 2 cars in the race is just not the same.

It seems F-1 will be mostly presented in Arab and asian countries with rich monarchies.

F1 so expensive it makes other racing look like little league. From the testing, to the logistics, to the salary of the drivers, it's so out of control.

Yea it's getting pretty damn sad anymore.. Look at all the money Tony George spent to get F1 back to the US and after only a few races it's gone again..

Damn nearly $400m a year it costs Honda to compete in F1 and they were a mediocre team without a chance of winning anything.

No wonder, the last race in US, only 4 cars were in the race. 2 Ferrarris, top notch team, and 2 cars of the worst team I can't remember who... but fuck, some people pay the big price and all they got was 4 freaking cars????

You bet I would never show my face there ever again if I was involved in F-1. Or you come back and honor the tickets of the year before. It's a loss but you're sending a message to the customers at least.

Offtrack crap and the smugness of Bernie Ecclestone have ruined F1. Not even worth getting up early to watch the 1 or 2 competitive teams race each other every week anymore.

Both Nascar and F1 have really killed the competitive spirit with the regulations and rules.

Attempts to "level the playing field" by making everyone switch to the same engines, etc have caused millions and millions to be spent on the smallest tweaks. NO playing fields have been lowered and the competitiveness and innovation has been kinda killed.

Which race was it in F1 that only 6 cars were in the field? The Indy 500 a couple years ago? Because the dedicated tire sponsor couldn't field the right tires for the teams?

That's seriously fucked up.

F1 has had its day, unfortunately. The days of Senna and Prost will never be repeated. The sport could be fixed so easily, though. The number one issue ruining the sport is aerodynamics. Retard the aerodynamics back to what they were in the seventies and eighties and someone might actually be able to pass another guy on the track instead moving up a spot because of a pitstop. F1 is painfully boring to watch these days.

For open wheelers, I'd rather watch Indy or A1. But none of them have got shit on Moto GP.

Kimi Raikkonen: Formula One Finnish racer, Kimi Raikkonen comes 5th in being the highest-paid athlete in the world. He?s taken home an income worth $44 million dollar last year. Kimi, hailing as ?Iceman? also grabbed the top notch position for being the highest-paid racers in the world. To add to the grace and fame he got, Raikkonen also won the Formula One World Drivers? Championship.

Yea but that was because of tire issues. Was really unrelated to the track or the location. It was just a major pile of dog poo that F1 stepped in that day.

The thing most people think of when they see Schumacher was his time at Ferrari and the money they spent. However to me he showed what F1 could have been when you look at his time driving the only v8 powered car the Ford Benetton.

Schumacher showed then that a underpowered car and a team with a smaller budget could compete at the top.

the amount of money that goes into F1 is seriously too much. think of how much they need to spend to just design/develop/create/test/race and also the wages of the staff. i'm guessing it's all just gonna go downhill from here. more n more teams will quit and less and less venues to race at.
eventually everyone would just stop viewing F1.. wheres the fun when only 2-4 teams compete?

honda had a past dismal 2 seasons and this season with ross brawn on board i was hoping for a turn of forutnes.

It appears during those 2 seasons honda just threw money at the situation and it got them no where, and of course they were fincancially supporting the now closed super aguri team.

The future looks promising, ross brawn and jenson button on board with the prospect of the car being a front field runner, maybe a buyer will be found in time.

A new buyer though will need a engine supplier (maybe ferrari with brawns connections??), but why would they get a buyer in the current financial state? surely continuing too start the season and prove they had a front running car would help their case?

I am the biggest jenson and honda fan around and i am incredibly disapointed too hear this, i cant help but think the car just isnt that good for the 3rd season running, which would be a disapointment.

Heres too david richards or a bored middle eastern sheikh too buying the team!!

yup, its ina bit of a mess with less teams on the grid they may be asked too run a 3rd car, the way the teams are trying too egt more money is from the prize money, bernie ecclestones cvc or whatever they are called company get 50% and the teams get 50%, they cant increase the prize money because bernie wont be able too repay a loan he took out, which means royal bank of scotland would end up taking control of F1.

max mosely is trying too cut costs by providing a single engine and/or gear box supplier which would bring the costs down too something like £5mil a year but the teams are threatning too quit if they do as they want too build their own

1 engine would turn F1 into nothing more than the IRL with right turns.... The reason most of the teams are run by car manufacturers is because they use F1 for R&D and to showcase their products.

Bernie Ecclestone is a greedy old fool who feels the need to fuck with the F1 format every year. He along is slowly killing F1, now dumping Canada, France and Australia to make way for the rich Arab countries to line is fat old pockets.

I totally agree, I'm a fan of the Ferrari F1 team but even more so a fan of Schumacher. He was a very enthusiastic racer. It was a nice change from the snoot you see in some of the drivers.
