How do you designer manage you're fonts?

I got a gazillion fonts. Problem is I never remember what each one look like so everytime I have to go trough to many to find the right one. My font list in photoshop is fucking humongous!!! How do you guys do it? Just go trough it or something else?

I would agree that it's the best one off the standard fonts.

A great "long-term" memory, and visual recognition work well for font management.

But seriously, There are a few standard fonts that I use:
Verdana
Helvetica
Impact
Arial Black
Yahoo!

and a few others that are always in my memory banks.
If I cannot use one of those fonts on a project, I will scroll through the rest of them.

After browsing your list for a while, you'll start to remember which font looks like what, and you'll get faster at it.

I'm sure there are a ton of font managers out there, however, I find it just as easy to remember which ones I use the most.

I use CompuPic Pro which can be found at http://www.photodex.com .

Its viewer will thumbnail your font images so you can see them all visually in an index layout. Much easier this way.

I've got about 7000 fonts in my collection now, though I only load maybe 1000 of them at any one time.

I have well over 10,000 fonts, I used to just scroll and scroll and scroll, but it got tedious after awhile...So I just grabbed Adobe Type Manager Deluxe...I allows you to sort them into different catagories...I load my most used into 1 profile and then all others into different catagories...All windings and graphic fonts, cursive fonts, etc, etc...They all have their own lil' place...Makes photoshop load alot faster too, not that I EVER have it closed, but still =)

I use to type a word with each font name beside it in adobe and had about 1000 words all different fonts then save that to a image file and just browse and pick!
