Go to user cp, edit options, scroll down to Thread Display Options and you can turn signatures off.

For future ref... which browser are you using? See if there's an option to "Block images from this server" or similar when you right click on an image. It's present in Mozilla and Seamonkey so I presume it's also a feature of Firefox.
