    buying content without 2257 before the law ...

    can you buy content that was shot before the 2257 law was put into affect? And not get in trouble for not having 2257 docs?

          course not, any content i buy, will have 2257 files or i wont buy it, but i seen on some of the content sites, i see that they have content that was shot before that law was passed.

              The law is pretty simple to read and very clear cut about this. I mean it friggen states what your asking in clear English.

              I would really pay to have someone explain the basics of the law to you at least.

              Now the simple answer without the lecture is yes.

                  ive bought plenty of content that was shot pre2257 and no docs are required, forget what cutoff year it is, i dont manage content

                      I believe the cut off year is 1995, so content produced before July 3rd, 1995 is exempt from 2257 records-keeping requirements. You will have to verify this information, though.

                          There is a date where that all content shot before that date is exempt. Of course I don't know that date because I've never dealt with older content, but it's in plain writing if you look it up.

                                      I've seen that statement on numerous sites and it's all bull shit. The content was shot on a digital camera, back then there were no digital cameras we could afford.

                                      To answer your question, yes you can buy pre 2257 content. I have tons of pre 2257 content with 2257 documentation. The magazines I worked for were a very careful about things like IDs and model releases.

                                      The cut off for 2257 is July 1995 and you should get a statement from the studio stating the production date...
                                      A statement from a studio that it was all shot before 1995 is worthless if the shit hits the fan. Without 2257 documents you don't have a clue when it was shot.
