My brother-in-law and his g/f decided to camp out Fry's at 3AM to get themselves advertised laptops for $299. I told him though the laptop had decent specs, whenever something sounds too good to be true, it generally is. So they decided to go anyways and waited in line for 3 hrs. By the time the store was gonna open at 6AM, a bunch of people started cutting in line and people were getting slammed together. It got so bad the cops showed up to try to keep some order. When they finally got to the counter, they were 'sold out' of those laptops and they ended up getting another 'special deal' one (with nearly identical specs as the $299 mind you) for $499, which is not bad for a laptop but still, they ended up spending $200 more than they wanted to.
So did anyone find good deals or is this just one big marketing hoax to get people in the stores?
