Newbies are defined by their lack of knowledge on a certain topic, and by how they handle new information.

If you can learn quickly, and retain information that you have learned, you will quickly move out of "newbie" status.

Otherwise, if you reject new information, and don't learn quickly, you can maintain your "newbie" status for a long time.

people need to establish a pecking order, make themselves feel better about themselves. It's a useless human trait.

I know so many people chasing 'player' status in this biz and i laugh at them because it's so futile, there will always be somebody bigger and better than you, people like that will just keep trying and never really satisfied where they are in life.

and EVERYBODY in this business is a NEWBIE at something. Nobody is a master at everything, this biz has a HUMONGOUS skill set range. There are people who run million dollar programs who
can barely make a simple webpage. There are Photoshop wiz's
who couldn't scare up 1,000 hits a day if their life depended on it.
TGP warriors who barely know how to balance their own bank book let alone run a webmaster affiliat program and so on and so on ........................

Hear hear!
I am a newbie, I know more than some but not as much as soon, so where does that put me in the peeking order?

You are no longer a newbie when you earn enough from your web business to quit your day job. :2 cents:

You're a real swifty. This is what I mean by you having no fucking respect, and when I flat-out told you to smarten up, instead of saying "sorry, I fucked up" or "sorry, I was just joking, didn't mean nothing" all you could do was cock off and give everyone your little snot-nosed mouthy attitude. I see no change in your juvenile attitude yet... newb.

What you seem to know about business ethics wouldn't fill a bug's snot-hole bud. See there's this thing called respect, and so far you seem to be sorely lacking in it. If this board is about *business* to you, why not try not acting like a fucknard quite so often?

Not a bad idea. It would only apply to guys like you though. :321GFY

"when do you stop being a newbie?"

Well are you ever not a newbie? I mean you can be in this biz for years and as someone has already said they learn something new every day....

So that means that you are never finished learning which means you are not hmmm let me think whats the opposite of newbie?

Anyway what I am saying is no matter how good you are you are never the best, there will always be someone bigger and better than you and you will have to learn again to be the best again...

Its the same in everything, take sport for example, and for talking sakes Football (soccer) France won the world cup in 98 and also the european championships in 2000, then go to world cup in Japan and crash before they get out the group stages, and to back up my theory Brazil who were the former champions before 1998 are now the champions and they learned how to win again and be the best again........Just my opinion!!!!

Does this make sense or am I just a newbie?

LOL.....

When you can just hold your own in the game, thats all.

I dont think a day goes by where I dont tweak or learn something new.

I agree with this 100%. Most newbies, in fact, think they know it all. So, what you think you know means nothing. Take a look at Smooth Criminal. He said he was going international soon. :1orglaugh I wonder if he ever made it?

I quit my management job a year ago this week ! :Graucho

I would say from personal experience you are not a newbie when other webmasters pull crap on forums about you and you can trace it back to competition with your paysite and being a competitor ! :) I have had that happen about 3 times now with my balloon site along with webmasters joining it to see what I have and emailing me pretending to be a customer.. I take it as a compliment that I am doing SOMETHING right...

Honeyslut 11-09-2002 04:46 PM

I say I am not a newbie but " always learning ". :)

I'm a newbie. Ya sure I've been doing this for a while - but I still know next to fuck all. Sure I can dictate HTML through viavoice to code my pages, sure I can get top 3 rankings on yahoo, google and sure I can get the odd surfer to sign up - but I still have to go to work 6 months of the year to buy all my toys :(

I'll stop seeing myself as a newb when I don't have to ask any more questions.
