Is it still possible to be a designer in this game?
I like to bookmark designer's portfolio's to use as inspiration and I've come to realise that there's shit loads of designers who specialise in porno. Some are awesome. Some not so much.
So I wonder is it still possible to branch out into porn design or should I stick with mainstream??

There is a lot of competition but if you are really good then you might be able to make a bit of profit.

I'm not so sure.. there's plenty of designers already here from low end to high end...
I also tend to think that with the current state of online adult, the number of webmasters is shrinking already... meaning less demand for design services.

If you have above-average skills I would say it is very possible to operate a successful design business. You'll find a lot of demand; webmasters are always setting up new sites and re-hashing existing ones. You'll also encounter a general feeling of discontentment from webmasters about designers. If you have good skills, can deliver work punctually, and - most important - understand how to design for adult, you should do well.

I doubt there is much, I know of a few good designers that have sales way done and it's not because of the quality of work, delivery time, or anything.

So why is it dude?
I agree with some above, 1) You must respect the deadlines 2) You MUST respect the DEADLINES 3)DON FCK WITH THE DEADLINES 4)must have a good grasp of the big picture. how the biz works and adults design trends 5)just add some drops of Out of the Box thinking... And you should do fine. With some experience, a good reputation rising, and a lot of perseverance it wont be too long till you have a bunch of clients. Treat them well and there will be more. Just do not accept a job until your finish the one you are doing. Try to work with the people you easy understand and get along (that doesnt inply informality). And that´s it. most likely you`ll fit in ![]()

I think you can make a living of it as long as you find your niche. There are too many cookie cutter Porn designers out there. If you can give a unique spin on how you design porn sites/boxes/etc you will find the right steady clients... I know I did

Either you are good and cheap or excellent. Both will work for putting food on your table.
