Public intolerance of young people has reached such levels that more than half of all adults think that British children are beginning to behave like animals, a poll has found.

The poll, commissioned by the children's charity Barnardo's, found that 49 per cent of adults regard children as increasingly dangerous both to each other and to their elders, while 43 per cent feel that "something has to be done" to protect society from children and young people.

More than a third of people agree that "it feels like the streets are infested with children".

You should see the kids who congregate in the street across from my house.

There's about 10 "gangstas" who start drinking cider daily at noon and I've witnessed At least 1 instance of incestual fingering in addition to the constant pill popping and weekly overdoses. All this under the watchful eye of their tramp/junkie/social worker mother

There's a HUGE generation gap going on right now.

And I honestly have a very hard time to relate even to those, who are say 5 - 10 years younger than me.

Be it the

- completely different socioeconomical situation we were raised in

- different role / impact of mass media that are taking over more and more space that used to be reserved to real friends and real people

- different role models and standards of social behaviour / "cool" meaning more than "right"

- constant media pressure to raise the youth consumation ready, the everlasting dream to raise new consumers that will buy more and ask less

- "immediate satisfaction" factor destroying the ability to actually concentrate

etc.

Maybe that I'm just too cynical and too old schoolish myself, but one thing is for sure - they're different.
