It's called the "bathtub effect". Like water sloshing in harmonic waves in a bathtub, excess heat in certain parts of the globe can cause cold air from the poles to 'slosh' in waves. This produces colder colds and strange cold spells that counterbalence the heat energy that is making the hotter areas hot.

If you actually read about it, read the science, you would know this.

Evil Chris 11-18-2008 08:31 PM

That's actually colder than here in the Great White North. :)

53 colder than a witches tit

That wasn't the only thing affecting it, but it's something that would take decades to close. It's certainly helped reduce the holes thast were man made and we don't have to worry about them anymore.

If I remember right the out right ban didn't go into full effect untill the 90's and it takes decades to get rid of whats already up there.

Wiki says this..

CFCs in the atmosphere
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were invented by Thomas Midgley in the 1920s. They were used in air conditioning/cooling units, as aerosol spray propellants prior to the 1980s, and in the cleaning processes of delicate electronic equipment. They also occur as by-products of some chemical processes. No significant natural sources have ever been identified for these compounds — their presence in the atmosphere is due almost entirely to human manufacture. As mentioned in the ozone cycle overview above, when such ozone-depleting chemicals reach the stratosphere, they are dissociated by ultraviolet light to release chlorine atoms. The chlorine atoms act as a catalyst, and each can break down tens of thousands of ozone molecules before being removed from the stratosphere. Given the longevity of CFC molecules, recovery times are measured in decades. It is calculated that a CFC molecule takes an average of 15 years to go from the ground level up to the upper atmosphere, and it can stay there for about a century, destroying up to one hundred thousand ozone molecules during that time.

So while yes the fact we have stopped using "most" of the harmful chemicals has had a positive effect it will still take quite a amount of time to reverse the damage that was done. When you cut down a forrest it doesn't regrow in 10 years just like our Ozone doesn't filter out all the bad shit in 10 years.

I said it wouldn't have been as bad. Are you really trying to argue that the marshlands don't help slow a hurricane and it's storm surge down?

I'm just quoting this because I did a calculation of poster's post count and join date and arrived at something.

Facts don't fit in 10 second sound byte clips on Right Wing Radio. Reading requires actually researching, it's much easier to just claim it's all Al Gores fault.

Another "disaster" another string of government grants to study it. Duh. :1orglaugh

Get ready to pay a "Carbon tax" to combat it. Can't wait!

I've seen stories on hemp oil being used to cure cancer. Ill try to find the youtube on it.

lots of info there.

There was a story, not sure if it's true or not about some guys in Canada who actually found a cure for cancer but they made it so cheap (no patent so anyone could make it, ie. generic) that no pharm company wants it, cuz there is no profit.

The drug is called dichloroacetate (DCA)

It's an interesting story. It's not necessarily a cure, it's just something they've found that looks like it could really help cancer patients. They are just starting clinical trials on humans now for it.

But like you said, there is no support from big Pharm for the drug. It takes almost a billion dollars to get something FDA approved. So the likelihood of it being made available in the U.S. legally is a crap shoot.

Yes, cancer is a new world order conspiracy.

Rush Limbaugh was actually a Liberal before he realized there was no money in Liberal Talk Radio, he's a 100% fraud.

Scientist for it. It might be too late now if since you had time to research. :)

The only guy I could give you off the top of my head is the one from NASA. The rest are just what I've picked up from articles and scientific papers that have come out.

Here's how to cure your anxiety:

Just think of walking into a coffee shop.
Not Starbucks.
No.
A "real" coffee shop.
One that gets its fresh beans, that same morning before it opened, from Juan Valdez himself. And then they roast the beans.
Can you smell it? The fresh roasting beans.
Yea.... good stuff.
You're the first customer. The barista gives you the best fucking half, full flipped and thrown up and down with a slice of whatever something you ever had.
You take a seat in the most comfortable seat you ever sat in.
You're relaxed.
.
.
.
.
Then you wake up.
Some ghey band, who's name also has the word "band" in it, plays in the background.
Patchouli fills the air.
You smell pit, look left, and see arm pit hair... from the chick stretching her arms as she yawns next to you.
You're surrounded by open laptops with glowing apple logos.
If only the barista could turn up ghey band so it'd drown out the inane conversations around you about how steve jobs has a huge cock.

-----
I dunno.
Maybe this thread is better for your anxiety.

But the problem comes when the government gets involved and wants to tax and take rights away in the name of global freezing, warming, rain forests, marsh lands and so on.

Sometimes government action is necessary. The majority of industry will not switch over unless there is incentive to do so sadly. Rainforests and marshlands should be protected because there is no money in it for industry to protect them. Global warming or not, to think we can continue to carry on the way we are forever is foolish.
