How many parents would go this far for their childs own self worth???

Hey all...

Just read this article on MSN

http://espn.go.com/minorlh/news/2002/1107/1457437.html

and thought...oh MY GOD!....

IMHO...I would not go this far...but rather chuck it up to one of 'oh well...that's life'...types of things...

Yeah, that's life. Learn to take the rough with the smooth.

I'd imagine the kid would be suffering more psychological damage induced by his overzelous father than the incident itself.

But I'm not a parent, so I guess I can't really speak...

I just heard the guy on the radio - the story isn't that clear in the article, it makes him out to be overreacting... On the radio it did seem like he was being discrimized against.. the league didn't even follow some customary rules for awards, which his son should have automatically been awarded.. and it's not like this guy just decided to sue because his son didn't get it.. he has been asking the league for any explaination for the past 6 months, and they won't talk to him... which is just stupid, unless they have something to hide.. I wanted to make another point.. but I forgot..

Cheers,
Matt

Figures..you can always make a news article a bit more interesting and compelling than a interview on the radio....

Thanks for the feedback folks!

at first i thought it was another article where i wanted to put my fist through a sport-nazi parents face.. but.. his kid did score TWICE as many goals and more assists than the kid who won.. i mean did the winner give good head or what? sueing damages is BS but an explaination or something would be enough - if being named the MVP is more important than actually being the highest scorer then the kids got problems..

Maybe his kid sucks at defense, and the guy who won was a bone crunching hitter who scared the shit out of everyone else in the league and he scored 21 goals to go with it..

Who knows? This is stupid though. Nothing like teaching your kid to be a whiny little shit who sues when things don't go his way.

I am Canadian and to be honest with you.. that is (at least where i grew up) how life is for young boys. I grew up in a small farming community... hockey was everything to the parents the kids the whole community. It doesn't surprise me to hear that a parent went that far!

I can understand the feeling. As a youth I was in the cub scouts and we would have the cub scout softball league. Then at the end of the season pick like a few all stars to go to the all star game.

Well one of the kids who was picked was the coaches grandson. This kid fucking sucked and was a fat fuck. Was one of the lousier players on the team. But he still got picked, because his grandpa did the picking.
