Now the theft starts because of the economy

Of course a lot of this is taking it over board, but check out the % that it has gone up.

Cargo Theft Increasing Across Fla., Consumers Affected

?When we are talking about these thefts that involve multimillion dollars we are talking about large organizations and each one has a role,? Upgrow said.

The alleged gasoline theft helped spike cargo theft, which is up 67 percent over the last three months and the task force set up to stop it said it?s costing Floridians.

We know a lot of people that live in Miami, and they work for or own regular businesses. They are hurting bad, because there is not enough money in Miami. Tourism is down like 40% or more and in an area that NEEDS it, it hurts.

How much worse will it get?

That's not entirely true. Some people lied on their loan apps, yes. But the majority of people did not lie - the bank just looked the other way, never requiring proper verification of income, not looking at credit history, not looking closely enough at job history. It's a compounded issue that grew worse by the actions (or inactions) done on all sides.

People lied end of story the signed that they didnt lie, why the fuck would a bank think a person would buy a home with a 3500 monthly loan if they cant afford it, but no people tried to look good and where thinking like idiots.

Its their fault not the banks!

Is it the banks fault too when people rack up their credit card bills?

Think normal and its not a time to say things to stick up for these short term people who destroyed this economy

Every single person who bought a house they couldn't afford, did not lie on the application.

Think normal?? If the bank can't review applications better than that, to determine that ALL of these people were lying, then I would be worried about their approval process.

But that isn't the case. Lenders were giving out mortgages to anyone, with Interest Only ARM's that allowed the applicants to initially afford the payments.

The banks are at fault for approving people to purchase homes they couldn't afford.
Home owners are at fault for getting in over their heads.

But it's so much bigger than that....

Peoples fault no different when people get in over their head with a credit card, once again the bank gave the 25k limit based on score and also employment claims and annu. income.

They make you sign that you are telling the truth, in addition in housing many appraisers and mortgage brokers used false documents so they can get to closing and collect their 20k or whatever.

Last night they announced they will scrap the whole CC forgiveness program, and that?s a step in the right direction, people need to take responsibility on their stupidity.

What about the huge amount of car repos? Is that also the banks fault?

People need to learn their fucking lesson, its ok to live with mom if you cant afford to live alone, its ok to drive a cheaper car, its ok to rent.

Well, you have no clue what you are talking about..

When we purchased our first home a few years back, we had the credit, the money, the cash. First, it was them, that wrote down I was an employee and not the owner of my Company. If I said I was the owner they would want Corp docs and History too. I tried to be honest, they wouldn't let me.

The first people we did the loan through tried to force us into a 80/20, even submitted the application that way, when we didn't want it. They lied to us, telling us we could only get the house if we got this jacked up loan.

After a bit of going at it, I think finally with a different lending company, we got the standard fixed rate mortgage.

The house I'm in now, same deal. The lenders/bank tried to push us into a interest based loan, when we make more than enough. It was pitched, this is probably the only way you will get approved.

People may have wanted a house, but the lenders/banks totally screwed and lied to the people.

Isn't buying a house an investment? So of course people thought they were investors, it's what buying property is about.

A person with half shit credit, couldn't really come up with a down payment, or closing money, some how got a loan that they could afford for awhile, but now can't.
And some how, it's the peoples fault for trying to improve themselves, yet not the banks/loan companies for allowing such shady loans?

Every house I have purchased we went through loops, prove income, dept to income ratio, work history, taxes paid and tax statements, ect..

Anyone getting past all that bullshit, all the checking "they do", and yet the loan company approves it, they know it was high risk, they know the rates would get more expensive, but they allowed it. And now it's the persons fault for getting the house they couldn't afford but wanted and thought they could afford and clearly did afford for a period of time, because the bank/loan companies made it so they could afford it?

For us, I'm not blaming anyone, we got our fixed rates because we didn't "let" the banks/loan companies scam us. But "they" tried.

theres a lot of people at the bank who are/were on incentive-based pay. so they could give fuck all about the long term prospects of the bank, as long as they can book more profits now and make more money now. it was about getting as many loans thru as possible. and the benefits occurred from mortgage brokers who worked outside the bank or inside the bank, to CEOs who just wanted to show more profits, and everybody in between.

to say its all on consumers and the banks, its probably on both, but you know something, a lot of it, most of it does lay on the banks. look up "predatory lending." consumers are the dumb ones, banks are supposed to be the smart ones. take a fake boom, where everything is going up and up, and never coming down, yes - you get people who took on 2nd home and speculative 2nd and 3rd properties who could never afford it or even consider the chances things would move downward, yet the bank approved them. I guess the CEOs who picked up hundreds of millions in stock bonuses, while leveraging themself to the hill all banking on the housing boom had nothing to do with this, as well as cooking the books to cover things up. It was about the short term, not the long term. Consumers weren't the only ones taking loans. These banks leveraged thesmelves 35x to 1, and put it many of their bets in bets surrounding the housing boom. I'll leave you with this, do you think it was a consumer who came up with interest-only loans in order to move houses/loans, or do you think it was someone on the banking side as a means to put more loans thru?

I dont know, i still think its 60/40 blame on banks/people trying to get a loan. A lot of people probably honestly didnt know what they were getting into and thought "why would the bank lie to me."

in either case, I think the theft will continue to go up and up. people loosing their job and still have bills to pay will put them in a tight situation, especially if they have kids or their wife is prego, then it escalates the situation even more.

I head a comment on the news where one of the castors said. " a Friend told me that he hopes the credit loosens up soon so he can get loans to pay his employees!" NOW HOW THE FUCK does that work.

Its not just the housing industry that did this. Its every thing.

I do put a good portion of blame on the Banks and lending institutions for telling people that the rates were low and would stay that way for some time and by the time they went up enough to make a difference, they individuals income would be high enough for it to not matter.

Had someone tell me this.

You do realize that some big companys rely on bank loans to function and keep a "cash flow" in order to pay thier employees and bills. Its not all the peoples fault its the mostly the banks faults
