If you know what you're doing and with a bit of luck you can make a killing right now. You can also lose your shirt so be very carefull and think Long Term.
Unless there are some major holy shit style surprises with companies going belly up that have no logical reason to do so, the stock market is really helping out and accelerating my retirement plans for the future. If not accelerating it, it will definitely be bulking it up like nothing I ever planed for or guessed would of happened. The long term prospects are insane.
I'm still investing. But I've lost so much, it just will take forever to make it back.
If you are looking longterm, try mutual funds, in just about any sector, even financials. In the short term, even with x-mas don't get into retail stores, you just won't get much of a bounce, this year.
you have a better chance of winning lotto then making any money to talk about on wall street right now.
Will you have some good trades or day? yeah im sure but it will be wiped out with another move you make or the market makes
Will you end up with some money, yeah but you can make more selling lemonade
Long term can ya make money, def but the question is do you have the discipline, what kinda discipline, well, sit down and figure out a amount of money you are certain you will not need in the next 10 years, then spread that in stocks that are here to stay, google, msft, ebay, amzn yeah I know it doesnt sound fancy enough for you, you want energy you want companies that talk about oil drilling you want companies with 250,000 employees, companies who have been around since 1942 well guess that way of thinking will = either no gains or complete wipe out of your investment, their brains are too old and they do not adapt with times, you dont know what will happen with energy but one thing for sure the top sites on the net will only get bigger as the smaller dogs die.
Then once you make your investment, set it and forget it! Chasing stocks in these days = youll be left standing in your underwear holding a bag.
