    I spoke with a Nabisco rep at the supermarket

    He said they tried to purchase Mother's Cookies, but they wouldn't sell. He said now, it's too late.

      Why too late? Because when a company is going bust they wont agree to a lower offer? This IMHO is the perfect time to buy them.. while buzz is generated. Imagine being the saviour of the brand.. huge volume sales. Oh well.

          I believe they filed for protection and have pending suits against them for laying off employees without the Fed's mandatory 60 day notice.

          which probably prohibits them from selling their company right now.

                      Who knows what all's behind it. Look at the banks failing and the heads of them getting super rich in the process. Just a shame when a company like that goes down in flames so easily.

                          Why didn't Mother's Cookies get a federal bailout? Seems like the government is passing out millions to all the big companies.
