What might keep us up late on election night

Scenario that would keep us up late.

McCain wins Ohio and Florida....he's polling within the margin of error there, so it's not out of the question.

Obama wins Virginia, which would seem to put it in the bag for him....BUT...McCain pulls an upset in Pennsylvania.
While this doesn't seem likely given the polling, there is no early voting in Pennsylvania, so the urban voters might opt to not stand in the 4+ hour lines to vote, while turnout will be big in the T, where people vote against Obama because of his "bitterness and guns and religion" remarks during the primary.

Then the race would come down to the west, with Colorado and Nevada being decisive.

If that happened I'll end the night with more gray hair than McCain, and McCain could end up being president.

sorry bro, but you forgot the very 1st state to be called Indiana
If OBAMA gets it at 7.30pm..it's over before it begins
Then PA, then VA, Mccain can have the rest of the toss-ups.. he loses

Obama is down by 2 in Indiana....and it's only 11 electoral votes.

            Pennsylvania is 21.

If McCain wins Penn, he can lose Indiana AND Virginia, and the race will still come down to who wins in the west.

Although I will agree that IF Obama wins Indiana and/or Missouri, that's going be indicative of a big shift in the electorate that would end up equaling an Obama landslide.

Either that or they riot and torch the place because he lost to 'whitey'.

                    Either way, it's a catch-22.

Probably true.....but the younger voters, who, if they turn out, will make the difference, probably won't want to wait very long.

I don't think Pennsylvania has early voting so it'll be interesting to see the results there.

I voted last week, and was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

One of the few times I was thankful to live in the sticks.

I went to the last rally that Obama had in downtown Indy, and the energy there was incredible. Adding that to the fact that while the rest of the nation perceives Indiana as a red state, we aren't afraid to split ticket, as evidenced by the number of Democratic governors we've had.

I agree that with 11 electoral votes we aren't enough to really swing any tides, but if we go blue, I believe it is the beginning of a long, long night for McCain.

I felt the same way after the 2004 election. I refused to watch any news of any kind for like 3 months.

At least this time around I have someone to vote for, instead of just voting against Bush.

I live in the alabama section of PA.. and there are mccain palin signs EVERYWHERE.
I probably see 20 of them to every 1 obama sign I see.

Plus, I am getting no less than 6-8 calls a day telling me how horrible obama is.
Today it was.. listen to what hillary clinton said about barak obama.. and well, she carried this state.

Blowout plain and simple. Been saying it for months, Obama has won over many people that normally would never vote for him. Combine that with the fact that McCain has tried every strategy known to man.
