![]() I have two computers and each has its own dedicated connection to the Internet (each one has its own cable modem, ip etc..).
How could I network these two computers so that they can share files between each other but not Internet connections, and so that the shared files are only available in the private network and not from the outside Internet. ![]() I currently have two pcs networked via a LinkSys router but this allows private file sharing between the pcs but only 1 shared internet connection.

Put a second nic card in each, put them on a non-routable network that you are not addressing the other nics to, get a cross over cable.. BAM.. private network.

If you can config the modem youself do this
PC1: IP: 10.21.0.10 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway 10.21.0.2 Dns (your ISP's) Router/modem1 Ip: 10.21.0.2 Subnet 255.255.255.0 PC2: PC1: IP: 10.21.0.20 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway 10.21.0.3 Dns (your ISP's) Router/modem1 Ip: 10.21.0.3 Subnet 255.255.255.0 buy a switch with at least 4 ports.. put them all in the switch.. that way they can all se eachother If you cant you have to put in a extra netcard....
