This has major implications. Our government is trying to filter what sites we visit. Time for people to get vocal. This is some seriously fucked up shit.

Gambling Sites Get Bent Over But Could Do Without the KY is my more extended thoughts on the matter.

And I really did date someone from Kentucky who thought that.

"The really sleazy thing about this whole circus is that Kentucky does not outlaw gambling. Kentucky just wants to get into the gambling business at home, without having to worry about competition from established gambling concerns such as online casinos. I’m appalled that they were able to find a judge who thought it was reasonable for a new business to randomly seize the assets of multiple existing ones."

Greedy fuckers. Not about being illegal or immoral. They want the money that KY residents spend.

will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Sounds like a money grab for Kentucky!

Well, I try to think the same objective way as the judge should think. Why would a judge lock/close a site, if no laws are broken?
If the judge makes decisions based on personal opinions, and not legal reasoning, then you have a problem with your authority - not your laws.

totally opens the door for any other state to do the same across the board, regardless of industry.

IMHO.

IIRC, all of the sites can forego the forfeiture if they block Kentucky's IPs from their sites. Probably easier said than done but I guess we'll see what happens. Certainly fucked up if it ends up going through...these are not 2-bit sites they are going after.

After Shock Media 10-29-2008 12:12 AM

I could say something that could in theory stir up a whole new quasi legal beyond fucked up twist to this by using another states law in conjunction with that ruling to either fuck many people over or get very rich and hated if one had no morals.

Think I will not as it would be bad and some ass clown would try I am sure.

sounds like holland: noone can open up a casino here only the government. That's a very lucrative monopoly they have going.
Im boycotting their casinos.
