When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I map out strategies for correlating user email clicking behavior with promotional strategies recorded on mySQL databases. Subject changes quickly after that.

I'm single and female and pretty open about what I do.

When I'm asked, I sometimes say "online advertising" but more often I just tell the full truth. It probably helps that I am a girl and that most of my friends are college students, but I've had pretty good reactions to telling people what I do. Usually mild shock, laughter, and then acceptance.

Of course, my last b/f couldn't handle it, but that's another story.

I tell people that I do "web design" or "web development" and that's usually enough. I agree that when people find out the details things tend to get annoying... usually thinking I am some "porn king" or whatever.

And the worst are the guys that think it must be the easiest thing in the world to do, and want me to explain to them in 3 minutes how they too can get rich by being a webmaster.

Best thing to say is "internet developer". Even though I have a lot of porn domains for the search engines, (I dont show any spread leg nudity on any of my sites). I dont develop any hardcore sites. So I would feel a bit weird saying im an adult webmaster to someone.

Its not worth trying to explain that to someone that dosent have a lot of internet experience, because they have no clue. Its best to just make it sound confusing and they wont ask again.

I also don't tell people what I do, I tell them I own an internet webdesign and hosting business and have servers hosting websites in Florida, New York & LA. Nobody seems to give a fuck about internet stuff and they just go "oh thats nice" and thats it.

Although I was flirting with a chick at the bank who was setting up yet another business bank account and she asked me what I do, I told her the bullshit story and she went "Ohh how cool whats your website so I can go see it?, I went uhh eh hmmm well nah sorry I can't say", she says " Ohh your run porn sites?" ..
me = Blush "well yes as a matter of fake thats my business", she was really cool, we went out for coffee but nothing more.

Right, back to work, make another mountain of cash then getting a life then a girlfriend In that order :)

i'm single, in that i am not married nor engaged. i have a girl i see from time to time when she's not busy with other guys. (she encourages me to see others, but, uh, i wouldn't even know where to start, heh.) i wouldn't say i'm "single and happy", but i do think i'd be more miserable if i were married (and awaiting the nearly inevitable divorce) or engaged (wedding planning sucks ass).

In the beginning stages of a new relationship but I'll be fucked if I go the marriage route again. A good relationship can be had and built upon without trading vows.

I must admit I am a liar too when it comes to this! Normally I will tell someone I am in marketing/advertising.

When eventually, I tell the truth (if the guy lasts that long) they are usually pretty kewl with it, just not so understanding of all the time I spend doing it. :(

I'm semi-reclusive, so I'll meet girls online and go on little dates to bolster my confidence for meeting girls _everywhere _else- I just walk right over and open up their world. You just need to get into the spirit to be able to do that unselfconsciously.

Usually, if I have my tongue rolling on like that, I can talk to anybody, anywhere, and it ain't no thing.

But once I'm in the spirit it's hard to get out of gear. and there goes the time. there is something to be said for being a nerd.
