I always wondered about those embed and object tags. I used to think they had no value, but these days it just might. While the engines can't read what the tags are, they can certainly see its taking a lot of space on a page and might consider it as a backlink since it has value to the webmaster to put it on a page. You never know with these things until you experiment with it.

1) Funny that they complained about a programs warning page, a nats one at that.
I'm surprised you don't have more cross access links for your other sites.
2) 100 sales a day at 5% = 5 a day x 30 a month = 150 or 1825 people a year. per 100 sales, "that did not know about it"...
Now it's great you refund them or have kick ass support. But when you burn someone or when you get burnt, it only takes once and you don't return.
Have you ever tracked your "return signups" that are previous cancels? Just think, in-house, no payout, signups - worth 5x webmasters and what? 10x (prob 20) an Xsale?
I'm still trying to figure out why all these sites shooting any exclusive content have an xsale to anything other than something they own.
Your business, as you said in #1 - maybe you shouldn't copy what the other failing morons are doing.
3) This confused me just a little, so here goes. It's your business, you can choose to run it into the ground or you can lift it above the trash and set an example.
What processor is doing this? If it's Epoch or CCbill, ICQ me and I will get it to stop processing illegal sites.
DRM protect your content. It can still be downloaded, used, no problems.. seamless. Educate yourself, it works and can send sales back.

You don't have to pay $35 to get webmasters to use you. And you don't have to have xsales to pay $35 per signup.
The tube argument is an excuse, and it's bullshit. Piracy has been around far before tubes, and the real piracy ring, is still larger than tubes.
Tubes provide something surfers didn't have before, saying you need to adapt isn't about dealing with tube piracy. It's about learning....
Have you not noticed these programs pushing hard xsales, lots of upsells, really don't offer one-on-one member love, most have crap support.
These are the programs trying everything right now before they finally shit out.
If you do hidden xsales, all the review sites with comments, have visitors that have slammed you - this happens on forums too. You people are killing your own business, not tubes or piracy.
It's your business as you said.. it's your choice if you want to stay on the same path as these other fools and lead your company to its death.

First, I actually read your blog a good bit and like it. You are a smart dood.
Here are my responses:
1. LOL...we link all of them.
2. Yeah, we do know how many times someone comes back. We've had guys sign up, quit, and come back because we actually DO UPDATE with new exclusive content twice daily, so they come back to see what's new. It's very ethnic / niche, so they come back in bigger number than do brobably your standard program.
3. I am pro-DRM but we all know it doesn't work and pisses off most surfers as much as anything alse. I really wish DRM worked better.

Oh I didn't see those... The important ones should be above the fold I never saw them, I just went to see what nudity it was thinking it was some gang bang or something, and saw the big enter button..
Less or no xsales, better support, better member attention (not always updates), will increase your return rate. The money increase, can be worth more than your xsales.
Check your site(s) across the review sites, look at the comments. It's a great way to see if you are pissing people off or not. I haven't checked your sites, but I do this to check sites before I push them.
It works amazing now.. You can't even tell the vod sites have drm, it's seamless. You can also let them download. If they share it, you can make it have a promo.
DRM is far better than it was, much much better. And with the intro of flash and it's protection, it's getting even better.
I don't feel the industry is setup to fail. Lots of people are doing fine. They don't complain about tubes or piracy, they just see the numbers go up. Every industry has tons of illegal shit going on, no industry is clean, period.
The overall industry was going down in sales and global traffic 2 years, and for sure 1 year, before the first illegal tube came around. If you want to blame something or someone, blame 2257 - it's what statistically killed our industry.
I don't think having an xsale kills your business, but I do think playing around with shady xsales can for sure hurt you. I do think having 2 pre-checked xsales does remove a big part of your returns. Once a person is tricked - it's over.

Dating and Cams are flourishing at the expense of content owners. Who knows, maybe filmed porn (as we know it) is just on the way out.
I don't think you wlll find anyone in the paysite game that will tell you they are doing as good now as they were a years ago.

Not just dating and cams are doing good, even though they are kicking ass in the global theft ring.
And I don't think we will find anyone that has been around for anytime, say it's "better" today. You will find people that have had the biggest months this year, largest year so far, and biggest sales and rebills days.
Just because our Eco is crashing around us, doesn't mean tubes and morons are putting us out of business.
A business or Industry, doesn't have to always be growing or expanding. Which overall our industry isn't doing either of right now, but it doesn't have to. As long as it doesn't stop, which it won't.
Like this big stock market drop, is a good thing. Our Industry about to fold up and die, people selling out, people leaving out really fast.. It's going to suck for a bit - but it's a good thing.
Even though, we need more Webmasters, in a bad way - to re-spark global porn traffic at massive levels.

My webmaster theory
The loss of Webmasters after 2257, is what we are seeing today. Back then we easily had 20,000 more Webmasters (I'm being very nice by saying 20k)... In short, this would create major global porn traffic. From email spam, forums, social sites, chat rooms, exits, every place on the 'net.. The more Webmasters we have, the of everything they are doing, the more traffic we all have to play with.
1000 webmasters will get more traffic than 100, but the 100 may be smarter.
100,000 would create so much traffic from so many different locations, our industry would rocket back to where it was.
My "hope" is the Dems win, back off porn. Eco goes to turn around, Internet gets kicking really good again because people have money. Since millions need jobs, well - maybe we will get our base of traffic back

Switch to a streaming only model. People need to take a look at the online video rental places in the mainstream. Im personally running all our HD sites streaming only via encrypted streams h264 .mp4's via flash media 3 servers. No buffer instant playback anywhere in the video. On top of that I have a way I can limit screencap recording of our vids. Running those vids off Cavecreek CDN. Can't be happier.Comment
