TGP owners: are you afraid of tube sites stealing your traffic?

Dozens on new tube sites pop up every day. A lot of them very sucessful.

It's no secret that TGPs/MPGs have less and less traffic each day.

Aren't you afraid that your big TGP sites will eventually fade to nothingness?

Are you taking any measures to secure your business?

What are your thoughs on this?

No reason to close tgps. They are good to get link prosperity up and trafic trade to funnel and join the fun and make a tube site yourself. never close anything especialy with the badwith allowance so high now a days.

In short, No.
It's the MGP's that are threatened by tube, as TGP caters to the pic surfer..And yes, there are still TONS of people browsing pics. I'm actually seeing growth this year and better ratios, believe it or not.

As a sidenote, I see a lot of MGP's switching to a tube format..They display like a mgp, but the previews lead to a streaming page. It's like they say: Adapt or die.

How exactly does a tube site steal traffic from the TGP's?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

People just don't get it.

On a side note, are you going to be in Vegas for Internext? We have to play some more Roulette.

I think you mean to say MGP's... Tgps are not really affected by tube sites all that much. Granted some since it's easier to jerk off now but the loyal ones still want pictures.

I don't think mpg owners are afraid of that or even care given that a good number of them trade traffic with the tubes.

(Fill in the Blank) owners: are you afraid of tube sites stealing your (Fill in the Blank)

I think framing your question in that manner would probably suit the situation a little better.

Since you asked about TGPs though, quality sites will always remain, a person running a quality site doesn't necessarily have to worry about the new flavor of the week that comes along to "destroy" them.

There's going to be crappy tgps that fall off, but they were crappy to begin with so their demise was bound to happen anyway. The better ones might lose some traffic, but certainly not enough for them to "fade to nothingness"

I dont understand one thing, how exactly do they attract people better than MGP sites??

By clip lenght? By clip quality?? Just dont understand it.. I can also include 30 second clips on my MGP gallery.. that would make up to 2 minutes of video.. or do they only want those 10 minute files??

Well then why not provide them freehosted video galls with 2 minute clips?

as a long time former paid spot advertiser on biggest TGPs, I can tell you that their traffic has dropped over 50% in just 3 years (yes, thehun traffic too) according to Sextracker stats

that traffic should go somewhere else and I doubt it went to other TGPs, MGPs or Torrents. It went to tubes with long movies

The way I see the people who went from tgp's/mgp's to tubes are the hardcore leeching surfers that aren't ever going to buy anything anyway.

utgps convert for me. I think more buyers go to tgps.JUst because something has a ton of traffic that doesnt mean the traffic has value. Look at youtube it cant make a profit,it loses money.

It was not only hardcore leeching surfers as there was drop in SUs too, but not exactly in the same % range - the drop in visitors numbers didnt exactly compared with number of SUs - something like 50% drop in visitors numbers causing a 30% drop of SUs.
thats only gross estimates, coming from my own stats, there could be always another 10 factors causing drop in SUs. I had spots on thehun for 4.5 years, month by month, so I know what sites could do well there and what sites not.

but hey, even as webmaster I bought at least one membership a year to some small site as I wanted to check their content I dont buy memberships anymore...

The traffic drop seemed to even out a few months ago - not quite sure why this is yet. There will always be traffic for TGP's. It's kind of like when link sites had all the traffic and TGP's starting getting popular. Sites like Persian Kitty's traffic when down a lot but it still up and running and I am pretty sure still turning a good profit.

This is true however remember sites like redtube, pornotube, etc. link to movies loading off pages from they're own domains. I am pretty sure even Alexa counts these "raw" hits towards traffic numbers.

selling now is kind of pointless - however some changes may be needed in the future to keep up. I am not saying turning into a full blown tube site however linking to some of the shorter tube clips provided by sponsors may keep your traffic from shrinking.
