Well done on finding two points out of my long list to come back on.

However, you are sadly horribly wrong on the size issue.

There are many faults with the iPhone, so pick one that is at least true if you want to bash it (lack of cut and paste, shit camera, etc).

iPhone
Dimensions: 4.5" x 2.4" x 0.46" Weight 4.8 ounces

G1
Dimensions - 4.60? x 2.16? x 0.62?; Weight: 5.6 ounces

Atleast it looks like a chocolate bar

I would rather have the iphone than a glorified slow GPS with a clunky frame and shitty navigation.

fuzzylogic 10-22-2008 07:23 PM

i bought a brown one today for 179

it's a nice phone but i cant seem to stay connected (i have been a few times) to the g1 data service. i dont know why. i get the slower data service instead.

is solitaire out for this phone?

fuzzylogic 10-22-2008 07:27 PM

what pisses me off is that i cant use any of my microSD cards in it. i have to get new ones that are tiny and come with an adapter.

Does it easily sync with a Mac or PC?

Does it get backed up on your computer so that if you loose it you can restore to a new one?

Can you lookup your own company e-mail on an IPhone? Not the Gmail, Yahoo, stuff, but my actual company e-mail like on a blackberry.

How is typing with it? That's another concern for me. I like the Blackberry and kind of unsure about typing on a touchscreen.

Cooperation between two monopolists-no way i will ever buy this.

Sid70 10-23-2008 05:06 AM

i have Samsung i600 ( Balck Jack ). It does 3g and HSDPA, it has ICQ, IE and couple other things I need. Do you really need GIGs of memory for your mp3 ( I have 30-40 songs in my lib max ), do u really feel the urge for GPS ( i got my paper map in my car ), do u really want to play on a tiny screen ( i got dell 24" ) ???

THey are toying you big boys.

I have been with T mobile for 3 years and since we moved house a year reception sucks. Also get dropped calls every day.. I am moving back to att in amonth and get an IPod... Also having a macbook should make sync a breeze.

Cleo 10-23-2008 05:50 AM

I switched from T-Mobile to ATT when I got an iPhone last year and I've been extremely happy.

At first I thought that the ATT plan was more expensive because I got less minutes then what T-Mobile was giving me for the same price but due to ATT's rollover minutes I've found that not to be true as I'm no longer paying for minutes that go unused. Last I looked I have something like 3000 unused rollover minutes and these days use my iPhone even when I'm home no longer worry about going over my monthly minutes.

Also the reception with ATT is much better in the area that I live including my house. I live next to the beach and T-Mobile was just about useless in this area.

As far as the iPhone goes it took me about a half a day to adjust to its keyboard and no can type faster on it then any phone I've owned before.

I love the way the iPhone syncs with my Macs and is always backed up in case I loose it. Also I don't worry about someone getting ahold of it and stealing my info as after ten failed password attempts it erases itself.

I'm getting ready to upgrade to the newer iPhone because of its GPS and 3G.

Well from my expirience I had a few smart phones already and with every one of them I found myself not doing more then just calling with them in the end.. So I hung my phone geekyness in the closet the last 2 years and was walking around with a simple cheap nokia.. As I have decided that all this web browsing mailing etc. would never work on a phone as the screen is just simply to small. A phone is for calling maybe texting and thats it!

Even when the Iphone came out and I was like yeah right it might be cool and all that but this phone have the same problem like any other phone simply the screen is too small.
But anyway I decided to get one simply to proofe myself and everyone else that this phone is still the same shit as I had many times before it.. But man I was wrong. This is the first phone I actually use to checkout the web to read emails to manage my calendar and it even replaced my cd changer in my car. The way apple thought about the user interface and the way it responds to your touches is just amazing and usable.

I know the Iphone has some kind of hype that makes some people not wanting it because they don't want to be a sheep of the herde.. But lets be realistic right at this moment it is the best phone one can buy. Yeah I admit the google phone has potential and probally more then the iphone for developers.. But as a consumer the normal user right at this moment there is still nothing better yet..

The iPhone has full Exchange support and you can put in any IMAP or POP email account.

The G1 only works with googlemail/gmail.
