It was indeed a group of muslims who posted a complaint on the official Sony forums. They said it was offensive to them and they asked that a patch be released to fix it.

Sony instead decided to pull the game and delay it, rather than just issuing a patch.

So ya, it was the muslims who were upset, not christians.
