how to be if someone eats too much traffic via hotlinking (especially chinese, which can easy eat >100 GB/day) except of disallowing via mods in situation when it's impossible to use temporary links. do abuses work? is there any sense to send abuse to registrar or to hoster only?

and how to be w/ streaming videos, where it's not easy to determine who hotlinks u

We offer a proprietary anti hot linking solution which will monitor your web traffic and only allow access to your protected files if a user has been legitimately browsing your website. Our solution is an Apache module, so it not only covers image media such as .jpeg and .gif but also movies and other streaming media which does not use the referrer field...

You need to modify and configure your .htaccess file. (contact your host if you dont know how)....

i notice alot of tube sites are using a script to rename their files every X minutes.

I would have to look at your current setup to advise how to integrate it but certainly not impossible,

as far as abuse complaints, hotlinking is not illlegal and for the most part not against many host's TOS so that avenue is fairly useless
