There is a reason the first course you have to take in college for music is "Music Appreciation".

perhaps to you i say The Slip is *almost* his finest work to date. because it's only 10 songs it fails to trump The Fragile where the soundscapes and scopes are far more vast. to release a new album containing 10 songs where 3 of them rank in his top 12 all time best is really outstanding. (yes, i would love to defend my opinion till the wee hours in the morning ;)
furthermore, the production and editing are excellent.
