My automatic investment plan

I've invested a few times this year and got burned pretty bad. Lucky it was just a few small amounts to test the setup. I've been wanting to setup an AIP for awhile investing in ETFs.

So, I set it up this morning. Here's my list...

EWJ, EWY, GE, IBB, IWD, IWF, SPY, XBI, XLE

I'm not investing too much about $600/mo scattered over those 8 ETFs and 1 stock. Until I learn a little more about the whole thing. I'm just glad I didn't set it up at the start of the year like I was planning, lol.

Buy now.. Hold on to your stocks until this whole financial crisis is over and you'll sure to see some profit ;)

there is a certain glitz and glamour in investing in the stock market yet most will lose their underwear doing so. lets say you have 100,000 to invest and the market gives you back 10% a year on your money for 10 years that means total profit will be about $159,000 about $16,000 a year in profit, and as much as 16,000 can buy you now it will buy you way less as years go on.

Or take 100,000 and buy say a business thats been around for 8+ years in a industry thats here to stay thats been operated with an absentee owner that makes a mere 35k a year in profit, and now just will you end up with $350,000 but as things get more expensive your business can charge more for whatever it was selling, even if its a nail salon.

Now its more complicated than this but lots of people run to wall street because it sounds good, but how many people do you really know that live in nice homes and drive high end cars because of their wall street investments? Obviously im not talking about the fund managers etc.

Long term with money you can afford to lose and will not need in the next 10-15 years wall street is ok, but other than that steer clear.
