The only reason not to support Obama in this election is if you want your country t continue its downward spiral and if you enjoy the pitiful view the rest of the world has of the USA.

I am a USA supporter and a Non-American. I do worry about the state of your country as it is the epicenter of the economic world. At this rate we are all going down with you.

So please do the whole world a favor and vote Obama!!

Snake Doctor 10-13-2008 06:07 PM

Why can't you just be honest and admit that taxes are the reason you won't vote for Obama, or any democrat really?

I've had this discussion with you before on GFY....and your hot button issue is taxes....why do you have to make up reasons to not vote for a guy, or list other things you don't like about him when you wouldn't vote for him even if those things didn't exist?

Just say that "I won't vote for Obama because he's going to raise my taxes" and be done with it? Why isn't that good enough?

buzzy 10-13-2008 06:10 PM

Is this for real? You won't vote for him on them 2 non-issues? YO I DONT KNOW IF YOU HAVE NOTICED BUT THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES

Snake Doctor 10-13-2008 06:22 PM

On the church thing....let's get real.

If you're black, live in Chicago, and want to get elected to anything, you have to attend one of two churches.....Rev Wright's church is one of those.
That's just the way it is.

I honestly don't believe that Obama agrees with anything Wright says....I also honestly believe Obama is too intelligent to believe in all of that Jesus Christ is my savior bullshit either.

Unfortunately we live in a country where the electorate requires elected officials to make public proclamations of their faith....and that faith better be in Jesus....so anyone with political ambition has to play the religion game.
You all damn well know that 90% of the politicians who go to church on Sunday (and 99% of them go) don't believe a damn thing the preacher is saying.....it's all just an act they have to put on so they can get elected.

This whole "I don't like Obama because he went to that church and his pastor said crazy things" is just a red herring....just come out and admit the real reason you won't vote for him.
Maybe it's taxes, maybe it's abortion, maybe it's the Iraq war, maybe it's because you don't want a national health care system....whatever........I just don't understand why people, most of whom are "issue voters" and almost always vote for the same party, have to invent reasons to hate the other candidate to justify voting against them.

Barack Obama is a secret muslim racist, John Kerry is a french traitor, Bill Clinton was a drug dealer and murderer........gimme a fucking break.....just admit that you don't want your taxes raised, pull the fucking voting lever, and move on with your life.

I didnt know who you are. I can promise you this Mccain and church lady win they will run with the frame work W set up to fuck with our industry. John's good friend charles keating tried to put Larry Flynt away for life. Its hard to worry about taxes when you cant make income. Check out Dave Cummings thread.

Drake 10-13-2008 07:03 PM

I agree with snakedoctor that Republicans are a narrow constituency. Bottom line is most of the time they won't vote Democrat because of taxes. All other reasons are fluff. I think the church and experience reasons are fluff.

Now, taxes (and spending) are legitimate concerns. I would love nothing more than to see a debate beween Obama's team of economists and McCain's team of economists so that we could judge the details of their proposals. Right now I feel more or less in the dark. Campaign trail promises are nice, but I'd like to know the details.

You miss my point entirely. We arent having this discussion with the outside world. This is a discussion amongst pornographers. You can't say someones statements are untrue and hateful and then make untrue and hateful statements yourself. Its contradictory.

I think that's off to be honest, I wouldn't call Ohio & Florida blue yet. Yes it still does not matter with those two states going red but I think it's gonna be alot closer than polls/electorals show.

I hear that a lot but I just don't get it. I'm not going to pretend I'm some expert on muslims and the quran but... Didn't Allah marry a 6 year old girl? Don't muslims treat their women like shit? Didn't muhammad have several girls as sex slaves? Didn't he force some of them to have sex after he killed their relatives?

Those two people are suppose to be very important to muslims yet look at some of the stuff they did. Those aren't little things you can just say "oh no big deal really". I don't see how anyone could believe in that religion, or any religion honestly.

Not long ago I was watching some video of a muslim preacher. The guy interviewing him asked the preacher what he thought of other muslims stating he was wrong about hating america(etc,etc)... The muslim preacher said, well I don't know where they got their version of the quran but I read mine everyday and it's correct.

Hey SnakeDoctor (did you snag that nick from the tv show The Unit btw) - you didn't read all of my post or you would have seen that I have voted for Democrats before. The discussion we had was over Obama's "fix the world poverty" bill that would raise taxes. That bill's current status:

This bill was considered in committee which has recommended it be considered by the Senate as a whole. Although it has been placed on a calendar of business, the order in which bills are considered and voted on is determined by the majority party leadership. Keep in mind that sometimes the text of one bill is incorporated into another bill, and in those cases the original bill, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned. [Last Updated: Sep 27, 2008]

Now consider that Obama does get elected President and one of his good ol' boys becomes the majority party leadership - that sucker could come back to life reeeeal quick.

Obama is campaigning that he won't raise taxes on anyone earning less than $250K/year. Is that double talk or what?

And guess what - this is America, I can have more than just 2 issues and so can you. :thumbsup

You have to understand the era, culture and history. Mohammad was monagamous and married to one woman for 20 or so years until her death.

What may seem barbaric and criminal to us now what fairly customary in that part of the world over 1500 years ago. From what I know, Mohammad did have many wives at one point but many of them he 'married' after vanquishing and killing his enemies during the wars at Mecca. So he basically took the widows and orphans as his wives out of respect and duty because I believe the law wouldn't allow him to be in the company of woman without them being his wife. Whether there was rape or sex slaves that I dont know

I also know that marriages in that era, similar to marriages of convenience and political advancement in Europe were done to strengthen alliances and friendships. So many of his marriages were for political reasons.

And having alot of muslim friends and having lived in the muslim world (I'm Christian), I know that this is a old custom and tradition (being married to more than 1 woman) in the Koran that is practiced by a tiny fraction of muslims, similar to mormons I guess. I have never met or seen of any muslim in my time that's married to more than 1 woman today.

There are over 1 Billion muslims in the world and maybe .0001% of those wish to do harm to the western world and americans. Islam is a traditionally very peaceful and friendly religion. Nowhere in the Koran does it advocate the murder of any innocent people and 99.9% of all muslims denounce any violence, but of course you won't hear about that on the news. Unfortunately, it has fallen into the wrong hands over the last 30 years, starting with Khomeini back in the late 70's. And because of different interpretations of the Koran, Islamic violence erupted. But keep in mind, similar things happened during the crusades and the spanish inquisitions where millions of 'non believers' died in the name of christ.

The bottom line is, religion has always been used as a form of control and power no matter what religion it is. And those who controlled it rarely gave a shit about it and their 'fellow brothers and sisters'. It's always, for the most part, been a means to an end and people will continue to exploit other people's beliefs for self gain..

You know, I was inclined to support McCain, but the choice of running mate demonstrated to me that he is a typical politician - actually worse - and he doesn't give two shits about this country, only winning. For McCain, it's all about him. Listen to his speeches, he uses the word "I" more than "my friends".

If you hear a claim about either candidate, go to google and type in the claim alongside the candidate's name and type 'factcheck' beside it. Various links should pop up allowing you to verify that the claim is true, false, or other.

And check sources. If somebody or an organization is making claims about a candidate that seems damning, repeat the google thing, or use wikipedia to check the background of that individual or organization. Many times they're well known nutcases with zero credibility.

I checked out some youtube videos of Rev Wright, and honestly, what he was saying was totally true. Black people were treated like shit, especially in Wrights day (he is 20 years older than obama). America did kill more innocent people dropping nukes than died in 911, ect. If you think Obama is going to enslave white people or something you are delusional but there is no denying the massive inequality black and really, all minority groups had suffered.

Yeah, I'm actually agreeing with SnakeDoctor a bit on his conspiracy theory angle. I don't put much stock in what Larry Sinclair would have to say either without proof but it is a good read none the less.

The preacher named Manning in the audio, well, it's the first I've heard of him and he says he has proof and will bring it to the public "at the right time" which leads me to believe he's probably got his own agenda as well.
