I'm half way through installing OSX on a new Ouad Core PC I just picked up this afternoon.

Going well so far. Will see how it compares to the MacPro that cost almost 4 times as much. :1orglaugh

I love Macs. I have a 17" laptop and a G5 desktop. I use the laptop the most at home and the G5 when I need more power.

I also have a dell laptop with XP and a desktop with Ubuntu / xp dual boot but I never turn them on. It's been over a year since I have used anything but a mac at home

Install is going, slowly, but it's going. It's a bit on the technical side, some command line stuff just to get things working properly.

Tomorrow I'm going to line them up and see how the compete against each other.

It read like you needed to use two hands to press "ctrl-c" on your keyboard.

Even tho I have both macs and pcs, I was wondering about this as well. I've never had a keyboard without ctrl on both sides of the spacebar? :1orglaugh

It is a totally new enclosure, carved out of a single block of aluminum.

It has a slight CPU bump.

It has the new nvidea gfx chipset which is good for a couple of reasons. a) for gfx heavy apps like photoshop, aperture etc it is being claimed there is a MASSIVE speed increase (like 4 times faster). Also it has a discreet gfx chip. So you can switch this on if you want the extra power (but you will lose 20% of your battery life).

SSD option.

That's about it.

I was in the store today...New mac is just more pretty shape wise. it has Glare screen which is not great for sun and video editing..

And video cart 512 when mac book pro is 256....and =70Gb more HD space

So i do not think it is too much difference ....

It replaces designers because it doesn't fuck up when you have photoshop and after effects running, the OS itself is a lot more designer-friendly. If that makes sense.

Or maybe it's just because After Effects fucks up my XP laptop...
