Why is it over? You think facts and figures have any meaning at all to 99% of voters, especially Republican?

Have you checked the electoral voting maps at all? According to those it seems inevitable unless something very fishy happens.

Im sure glad Bob Bennett (Democrat) and the rest of the Washington Lawyers who where involved all Democrats might i add exonerated him. Even the independent bipartisan council doing the pre investigation found no criminal activity but yet he was still drug into it.

That was back before Democrats and Republicans wanted to destroy each other. The Republican's attempt to take down Clinton changed that. If that Keating stuff was happening today, the Dems would NOT spare McCain.

Thats odd, because in Bob Bennett's book In The Ring: The Trials of a Washington Lawyer says exactually the opposite..mind you this guy is a lawyer from the Kenedys to the Clintons.

There was nothing fishy going on. Charles Keating was just a nice guy who liked sending his local politican on free vacations to the Bahamas. McCain was just too nice to turn down the friendly gesture.

If memory serves me, The Keating five had four democrats and McCain. Besides keeping bad company McCain was found to have done nothing wrong by the democrat led investigation.

I keep seeing things about how Bush, Yes Bush, and Mc Cain both tried to get some regulation on Fanny and Freddy, but congress blocked it. Then I see how Obama took money from Fanny and Freddy.

Then on another show I see just the opposite.

Fucke them all. they are politicians, and either will screw us without a reach around.

You have hard-core Democrats and hard-core Republicans but what swings the elections are voters who vote AGAINST rather than for a candidate. There will be a lot voting against Obama.

Based on what? All projections show massive backlash against the Republican party. It also shows huge amounts of newly registered voters.

I think exactly the opposite will happen because of Sarah Palin being on the ticket.

There is a deep grassroot movement going on within the Obama campaign that cannot be overcome at this stage. Obama will win Ohio and Florida to seal the victory!

You missed my point. I'm not disputing the stats at the moment simply that the vid linked to will make any difference at all. If it is 'all over' (and I still have doubts about that until it happens) it will have nothing to do with any new worthless piece of shadey background, short of eating babies and even then it may not make a difference.

More like 2006. The demographics of the country has changed a lot since then. 2004 didn't have the kind of newly registered voters we have now. It also didn't have the huge advantage that Democrats have now gained over Republicans in party affiliation. Not to mention a pretty fucked up economy.

If the Bush-Kerry race was in 2006, Bush would have lost by 5-10%. I don't think you can compare the two elections. Some of you are going to be surprised by the turnout in this election.

Why would anyone suddenly vote against him at the last minute? I have heard this point over and over again on the political talk shows. I don't get it.

BTW McCain made a major fuck up recently talking about messing with Medicare and Florida just swung towards Obama.

Fred Thompson '08!!!

I know its The Onion, but here's a beauty from the '96 election. It seems appropriate:

Bob Dole Demands Preemptive Recount

http://www.theonion.com/content/news...nds_preemptive

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX?During a campaign swing through lower Texas Monday, Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole demanded a recount of the upcoming 1996 presidential election.

"Bob Dole isn't going to take defeat sitting down," Dole told a crowd of Republican supporters, vowing to personally recount all the ballots himself if necessary. "He's going to count those ballots. He's going to count every last one of them with his bare hands."

Added Dole: "Bob Dole is going to be the next President of the United States!"

The 73-year-old Dole, trailing Clinton in most polls by about 15 points, repeated the new, recount-themed message later that day during a speech at a $500-a-plate fundraiser barbeque. He is expected to continue the strategy as he campaigns in Georgia and Florida this week.

Said Dole campaign manager James Weirer: "Mr. Dole feels it is possible that Bill Clinton's inevitable victory in this election may be the result of a vote-counting error. And Bob Dole is the sort of tireless champion of the people who will not let that kind of a possibility go uninvestigated."

New Dole campaign posters have been printed up with the phrase, "Recount 'Em!" emblazoned across a photo of Dole giving the thumbs-up sign.

A series of recount-themed TV ads will hit also airwaves across the nation in late October. The ads depict electoral college computers counting ballots and making counting errors. The grainy, black-and-white presentation is accompanied by eerie music as an announcer says, "When you vote, how do you know your vote is being counted properly? Wouldn't you be happier to know that Bob Dole himself is counting?and recounting?every single ballot?"

In a memo released by his campaign managers yesterday, Dole outlined the specifics of his recount plan, which entails the following: one full-scale recount as soon as Bill Clinton is declared the winner of the general election; two recounts if Clinton is verified as the winner upon the first recount; and then a third recount if Clinton is verified as the winner upon the first two recounts.

"Bob Dole is not a quitter," Dole said. "Just because Clinton is going to win this election does not mean Bob Dole is not going to win this election."

Dole stressed that unlike his opponent, he has been running for public office since the early '50s, instilling in him a deep, longtime love of votes. "If a ballot says 'Bob Dole' on it, Bob Dole's going to treasure it. He's going to caress the ballot and hold it very close to his breast. Bob Dole may even shed a tear for the ballot," Dole said. "Then he's going to count it and move on to the next one."

Dole also revealed that he will, win or lose, dive head first into a huge pile of ballots marked "Bob Dole."

Dole said that during the recounting process, he will continue to accept votes from the American people. "Send them on postcards, letters or telegrams," Dole said. "When I receive enough post-election votes to defeat Clinton, I will take my rightful place in the Oval Office."

After the third unsuccessful recount?and the subsequent addition of any post-election votes, which are also expected to fail to bring his vote count above Clinton's?Dole plans simply to move into the White House with his family and begin performing the duties of the President.

"Come November 5, win or lose, Bob Dole is going to be the next President of the United States!" Dole said.

Obama's lead now down to 3%.....

Interesting facet of this poll:
But the bruising nature of the campaign has taken a toll on both candidates, who registered favorable scores from barely more than 50 percent of the voters in the survey. McCain was rated favorably by 57 percent, while Obama was rated favorably by 55 percent.

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...081007?sp=true
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/...n4504633.shtml

That puts this election at basically a dead heat... at a time when everyone hates the outgoing administration. That's a huge tell in itself. Poket Aces may get busted on the river!

And the Keating5 isn't really pocket aces... more like a suited 9-10.

oh. well i see it now. Obama will win for sure. The polls didn't consider this...

By JEANE MacINTOSH
Last updated: 10:27 am October 7, 2008 Posted: 9:34 pm October 6, 2008

CLEVELAND - Volunteers supporting Barack Obama picked up hundreds of people at homeless shelters, soup kitchens and drug-rehab centers and drove them to a polling place yesterday on the last day that Ohioans could register and vote on the same day, almost no questions asked.

The huge effort by a pro-Obama group, Vote Today Ohio, takes advantage of a quirk in the state's elections laws that allows people to register and cast ballots at the same time without having to prove residency.

Republicans have argued that the window could lead to widespread voter fraud because officials wouldn't have an opportunity to verify registration information before ballots were cast.

Among the volunteers were Yori Stadlin and Vivian Lehrer of the Upper West Side, who got married last week and decided to spend their honeymoon shepherding voters to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

Early today, Stadlin's van picked up William Woods, 59, at the soup kitchen of the Bishop Cosgrove Center.

"I never voted before," Woods said, because of a felony conviction that previously barred him from the polls. "Without this service, I would have had no way to get here."

So you are saying there is something wrong with picking up convicted felons and letting them have a vote they shouldn't of?

you are all ignorant, both these douche bags had hands in freddie and fannie, both have former freddie and fannie people working in their campaigns as economic advisors, both have profited from the collapse and will continue to do so when you vote one of the two in office.

This whole mess is 100% to blame on our leaders shoving "political correctness" down ours and biz's throats, and government stepping in and on things it shouldn't have been involved in the first place. Connect the dots. Vote for anyone other than Obama & McCain, shit, evenRon paul or Ralph nader would be better.

That would be a wasted vote. It's like playing roulette and putting your money on green, when you know there is only black and red.

No matter what happens or who wins, people will always say it wasn't fair one way or another. I highly doubt that a few hundred or even thousand homless people will win an election for anyone.

Bush already managed to do that. There's virtually nowhere to go but up. I'll take my chances with Obama.
