Zeitgeist: Addendum

It's also called Zeitgeist II, released yesterday.
I just watched it and I really like some ideas that are presented in second part of the movie.
I'm interested your opinions about this movie

“Zeitgeist was created in the hope that it will inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective, and to relay the understanding that very often things are not what the population at large think they are. The true understanding of events, both historical and modern, are crucial to the development, awareness and spirituality of the human condition.”

Part 1 of this is a must see. It explains in layman's terms how our monetary system works. If only we could hijack the airwaves (e.g. V for Vendetta) and broadcast this to every channel in the US...

Part 2 is equally interesting.

Not finished with Part 3 yet, but so it's sub par compared to the first two parts of the film.

The Venus Project people, economic hitman, producers = not credible.

Abundance, resources, inflation, crime, coronary heart disease and terrorism.

Hidden reference to the Illuminati/NWO conspiracy.

The Venus Project is advocating a post-modern communist world.

Stateless, global, highly technological, abundance of resources, no crime...etc.

Yeah right, soon everything will be free, crime will stop, we will be one world, one people, be super super smart, the government will vanish, and resources multiply like mushrooms.

Empty promises presented in a nice package.

Part 3 seems to talk about about this idea of a Utopian society free of competition where we all are winners... I haven't finished it yet, but it kind of rubs me the wrong way too.

The first 2 parts are very well down though.

Did you watch the film yet?

I'm sure the Venus Project guys will be bringing peace and prosperity to Zimbabwe very soon!!!! I appreciate their concern for our people, it's true that in the West we have such miserable lives, we work so hard, life is so expensive, we are so oppressed by fascism. Ah Ah.

Wal-Mart is evil, vote for me guys. I will re-open all the expensive shops and even free the Mafia. Mobsters are political prisoners, and small traders are charitable organizations.

The Mafia and communism are MISUNDERSTOOD. They don't starve or kill people, they offer protection against evil capitalists.

Capitalism is EVIL. I said it!

Peace & love my friends, water and sex can feed us for eternity!

In the ex USSR and China you will find hundreds of millions of humans who recall how good life was before evil capitalists took over.

The way they even twist shit in the first movie was mind blowing. Hell they deserve a prize for how they twist around some facts and quotes about banks and economics to explain how money works. When in reality they leave out a shit load of other factors and totally screw up how even how the fed works.

So perhaps before anyone wishes to broadcast this or anything like it "V for vendetta style" they may want to first grasps basic economics and civics beforehand. Though it is well made and makes a very good argument and set of conspiracies that seem very believable to anyone who does not understand, just to bad it is more fiction than fact.

I watched the first one if that is what you mean, have I watched the part 2 or one you just posted; not yet.

Want to start somewhere, the Fed is ran at a very low profit or operating cost. They do not attach interest to each dollar they produce. Hell even the stocks are highly regulated.

Honestly though if you were really interested, you would do the real research and pick up some economics books yourself to figure this all out. I just know that conspiracies are just more interesting, fun, and easier to believe in.

We are talking about different films.

So again... Watch Part I of the NEW film and them enlighten me about the inaccuracies.

And for what it's worth I know a lot about the subject. For you to presume I get all my information from "conspiracy" films is rather ignorant on your part.

Not presuming you get all your info from conspiracy films, I am stating in the first film they twisted information and facts to support their claims which were untrue.

Though I will take a look at part 1 of the second movie. Judging from the previous film, I am not expecting much difference in their thought processes or what they preach.

Oh fuck me I really can not sit past even 22 minutes or so right now. My head actually hurts for real.

I shall just give up for now and say have at it, everything about money (though it should be called currency), debt, interest, and reserves is all true. You win.

Just finished it. My thoughts are that, for all of it's obvious flaws, our system of regulated capitalism has produced the biggest advancement of human civilization, in the shortest period of time, in the history of man. Some acknowledgment of this, amid all of the blasting, would have been nice. I do agree with the filmmakers that as automation and technological advancement continues, labor will eventually be phased out. However, this can't happen completely until the arrival of the age of true artificial intelligence and advanced androids who can perform menial tasks, as well as complex work such as surgery and the like. I don't see how their vision of society can take shape in the near future, but it's certainly very possible within 100 years.

I listened to the first two parts...
While corruption is part of the system, greed can be good. Without greed the quality of life (and technology) would stall.

It's just very hard to find the right balance.

I do not agree with that greed is the main cause of forthcoming tehcnological progress, what about smart people? I think they have something to do with it ;)

I finished the film and the last half was interesting, but I don't agree with premise that we can successfully live and advance in this Utopian lifestyle they talk about where there is no greed or competition and people all support each other for the greater good. Sounds like hippy shit to me personally...

Capitalism works. There will always be a gap between the haves and have nots. I know this is a bit cliched, but most people are sheep. They want to be led. They would rather sit on their ass and do nothing than take action. They are waiting for instructions from the "doers" in society. People that can build something out of nothing. People that are not comfortable coasting through life on auto-pilot. The "doers" are often demonized, but without them life as we know it would be VERY different.

Corporatism does NOT work and that is what we have today. This is when government and big business work in collusion with each other to accumulate incredible amounts of wealth and power. This is the reason for the grossly unfair gap between the rich elite of the world and everyone else. Corporatism is often mistaken for capitalism. They are not the same.

Is true capitalism perfect? Perhaps not, but maybe there is no "perfect" solution? Does there have to be a solution to everything in life? Look around you. Nature can be fucking brutal. Maybe that is how life is supposed to be? Actually, who is to say there is anything at all that is "supposed" to be.

they def. "dumbed "down economics in the first one, this one went into a bit better detail although obviously not meant for someone who actually knows what they are talking about.
either way in both they weren't trying to explain economics , perhaps just the futility of the current system.

man needs to continuously feed his hunger for power by conquering something or someone. Until man asa whole finds itself an opponent to conquer as a whole, it will continue to squabble amongst itself. If the entire human population found a common pint and common enemy to come together and fight to conquer, then you would see makind come together as one. Until then we're basically fucked.

if you didnt like the first Zeitgeist film i think it is even MORE important to see the second one. i felt a lot less anxious about the first one after i saw the second one. plus, regardless of whether you agree with the viewpoints presented in either zeitgeist movie it's good to have your perspective challenged now and then. there is a lot of interesting information there.
