at first i was tempted to my a small buck crack, but then i held a mental image of my last years buck, which brought tears back to my eyes. i thought it was a doe when i got him along the tree line last night of season. here's to hoping i have a better 09 buck, only 3 weeks or so until alberta season opens...

for all the bleeding hearts in here, have a shit over this. every year i fill my supplumentary tag in the first few days blowing the head of a fawn. they are young, dumb, and tasty as all fucking hell. those little steaks melt in your mouth so good! it's like heaven on your tongue. i wait for the first young fawn (sometimes a yearling) who stands within reasonable range and give me the clear shot, and i do my best to skullcap the fucker. you know, like the pink mist? the jfk shot? there's no running away after you take one of those shots. a wounded deer running fills with blood, toughens up the meat a bit. there's ain't no better eating than a nov 4th bambi with his head blown clear off....

besides it helps get that itchy trigger finger fever out, and allows me to maintain some sense of patience while trophy hunting...

ideally you wait for a good side profile, and put it just behind the shoulder blades. but hey, not every big buck is gonna stand there waiting for it right? hit that fucker on a dead run at 300+ yards, right dead on the spot. Snipe him at long range 500-600 yards. Or coming full bore across a 30 foot cutline, hearing nothing but crunching leaves and snapping twigs getting closer, making a split second judgement and making the shot in a small iwndow. Now thats a rush! And then there's always a night of beer and hunting bullshitting every night with the boys. Getting the day's news and checking out your buddy's kills. I can't fucking wait for hunting season. :thumbsup

yup always one of the highlights of my year. nothing like getting away from everything for a week and just relaxing with bottles of vodka, beer, and good company.

also i hit a bit high on him caught the top of his back above the heart. he went down instantly though. im going to pick up the meat this week its gonna be good eatin! :thumbsup
